I actually disagree with this framing on Hbomber's part. The but you're referring to has IH's "Harold" avatar show reading from a book. He pauses to say "now, what follows is an account from yada yada yada", then he clearly continues to read from the same book. I don't see that as him trying to make it sound line the next bit was from a different source.
That said, not citing the Mental Floss article at all is very odd. I don't think you can jump straight to saying it was malicious when it may have been a mistake. As others have pointed out, citations are usually given in his other videos like the Gentleman Pirate and Concordia ones. So clearly IH doesn't have a problem doing this.
Why didn't he do it here? I don't know, but I don't think it was to make out that he wasn't quoting other books and articles on a topic - again, his avatar is literally shown reading a book. Now that he's reuploaded with the acknowledgement, HBombs thing seems like making a mountain out of a molehill. He probably just wanted to make drama with a big name YouTube, knowing that hardly any non-gays know who that other guy is, whose copying was way more egregious.

Wanted to wait a few days - IH has been losing subscribers, but not a lot - he had 4.4 million on Sunday and now has 4 million. Anyone with than many subs loses people every time they post a video so it might just be that, he's too big to fail.
If he sticks to his current output, ignores the controversy and credits everyone going forward this will blow over. I think it's basically done already.

Watched wine video. I'm having a lot of fun with this series, that he can keep me engaged when I don't drink alcohol at all and consider wine "ruined grape juice" should say a lot. The theater one had more laughs for sure but I enjoyed it.
Also loved the segment with his made up chart of cost benefit and that pretty much applies to any and all hobbies and consumer goods. Loved the "this is my art, what value do you put on that?" "20 bucks!".
Same with the ending segment that although I still think wine autists are gigantic faggots, as a "miniature game enjoyer" (also known as little figurine faggot), I can get where they get their appeal from.

Rate me optimistic but I don't think IH is really gonna be affected by these unsubs. His channel is content based, not personality based, and furthermore its also foreground viewing, not background viewing, so its not really replacable. It provides something unique you can't get elsewhere and you don't have anywhere to go if you don't like that content.
