I grew up sneaking Anne Rice's porn out of the library for sex education. She's lowbrow trash but she's my trash, and I'm not wasting my time on some bullshit SJW wokified queergender raceswap wankery.

She died last year so they can do whatever they want and she can't say shit, not without a ouija board anyway.I don't understand why they attached Anne's name to the show because she would throw a fit over the changes to her characters. There's a reason FanFiction.net banned fanfic of her stuff.
And nothing of value was lost. She died last year so they can do whatever they want and she can't say shit, not without a ouija board anyway.
I didn't know that! I was wondering why everyone was suddenly niggers because she'd have never allowed that. She died last year so they can do whatever they want and she can't say shit, not without a ouija board anyway.

Look at whats happening with LOTR. It's a framework for the future. This makes me wonder what will happen when Robert Zemeckis dies.
Anne Rice was super protective of her characters in a way I used to think was ultra autistic. But now I get it more than ever.
Meh. It's not like it erases the past. Retarded, greedy, short-sighted faggots can ruin all the IPs they can. Won't change the fact they were good unless they outright shelve production and records of what came before. This makes me wonder what will happen when Robert Zemeckis dies.

Look at what happen to Stan Lee who was very protective of his characters. dude was dead for like a month and you had Tom Holland saying his spiderman could be gay. This makes me wonder what will happen when Robert Zemeckis dies.

Elaborate, what about a fanfic ban?I don't understand why they attached Anne's name to the show because she would throw a fit over the changes to her characters. There's a reason FanFiction.net banned fanfic of her stuff.
Some writers would threaten legal action over fan works. Anne Rice used to famously lose her shit, to the point where lawyers would threaten legal action at any attempt at fanfiction. There was even an obscure Japanese artist who did a doujinshi based on IWTV, and they hunted her down too. Fanfiction.net banned any sort of AR-based works because if they had gone ahead as a host, AR would have taken them to court.Elaborate, what about a fanfic ban?
Whew...Marion was.....uhh......a very very evil monster. And that is putting it lightlySome writers would threaten legal action over fan works. A lot of creator objection to fanfic is based on Marion Zimmer-Bradley being accused of stealing ideas from fan works.
A least one writer looked for the middle ground; Mercedes Lackey allowed fanworks, but required fans to submit a disclosure form. This was in the Zine era, so in theory it was workable. Then with the evolution of the internet she banned fanfic hosted on websites, but stated that fanfic in Zines could continue. In 2011 she officially gave up trying to police it and told fic writers to knock themselves out.
Good grief, what a mess that sounds like. Not surprised that the homoerotic undertones are now overtones; it's what sold the novel in the first place. And after being raised on a diet of hardcore yaoi, modern fujoshis like things to be a lot more explicit than Rice could get away with back then. (Although the shit she did manage to get away with at the time would probably earn her a thread of her very own on KF now.)So I watched it and good lord there's a lot of gayness. It is very, very gay.
Race-swapping Louis I actually don't care much about. Yes, it makes half the show about racism but the actor is good and the story is still compelling. What I do care about is that I've just finished episode three and Claudia is an adult. Not only is she an adult which makes the whole dynamic from the books a mess but Louis is the one to insist she be turned into a vampire. Which further fucks with the whole element of Lestat turning Claudia in order to force Louis to stay with him. It's been decades since I read the books but I'm remembering that correctly, aren't I? Somebody help me out here.
Anyway, Louis is seen rushing into a burning building to rescue this woman and I have no idea who she is. It's not his sister. I thought perhaps there'd been more of a time skip than I realised and this was one of his nieces grown older. But I genuinely cannot recollect who she was to him and I'm genuinely wondering if this woman who is dear to him has actually been shown before or not. Until he says the name "Claudia". Again, if anyone can tell me if she was actually in previous episodes or mentioned let me know because I don't remember her.
I like the device of this taking place in Dubai and I especially like the hints that Louis might have been lying about parts of his life story and may in fact still be lying. But I cannot fathom how Claudia works as an adult. Are they still going to try and play her as a child? It seems like they might be because the interviewer is reading Claudia's diary and it's all very childlike. Lots of "then the White angel bit me" naivety and simplistic narration. But she in no way looks like a child and I looked up the actress and she's 19 years old. This makes no sense to me and is the first thing that's really pulled me out of the story. Okay, I don't particularly want to see two men playing tonsil-hockey with each other but that admittedly still comes across as pretty true to the story - it was always a subtext. Adult Claudia is just dumb. I guess I'll watch more and see if it's not as bad as I think it will be.
Oh, I think someone mentioned about Louis no longer being a slave owner. I think that's just an artefact of the time period adjustment. He mentions that his grandfather had been a slave owner. So that's pretty fair actually - alluding to the fact that there were free and Black slave owners. And Louis as a pimp is the next closest equivalent in many ways. It all works.
But fucking adult Claudia! Yeesh!
So I watched one more episode after my last post and it's mentioned near the end of the episode that Claudia is 14. Aside from that still being too old really for Claudia, there is zero fucking way anybody could look at that woman and think of her as 14. Doesn't matter if they put ribbons in her hair, that is a grown woman. It's about believable seeing her skipping around a house as Yaniv is as a woman.Good grief, what a mess that sounds like. Not surprised that the homoerotic undertones are now overtones; it's what sold the novel in the first place. As for Louis being a liar, in The Vampire Lestat Louis was called a liar multiple times, and his whole character was somewhat retconned. Interview was written in something like six weeks, so I strongly suspect that Rice decided that she didn't like a lot of shit in Interview because she hadn't thought it through properly, and just waived a lot of the lore as told by Louis aside by saying, "Oh yeah, he lied about a ton of shit, lol" and just rewrote what she didn't like in Lestat.
An adult Claudia? What the absolute fuck? It just destroys the whole concept, let alone the dynamic. The only thing I can think of is that the executives wanted to get away from Rice's tendency to erotise children, so they just decided to make her an adult. Unfortunately that was the whole point of Claudia; she was a child vampire, anathema to other vampires, and weak. That was Armand's excuse for killing her and attacking Lestat (but in reality he wanted to screw Louis.)
