I despise what video games have become. 007 First Light is "Modern Game: The Video Game", with a 3 hour long tutorial. The dialogue is very stale, Bond constantly talks to himself and quips in an environment where he's supposed to be stealthy, because of course he does, it's the exact type of shit that the Focus, M video parodies.
There are QTEs that complete themselves if you let the timer for them run out, so why even bother having them? It's full of these fake gameplay sections that give you the illusion of control. And of course, the classic "Walk slowly and follow the person while they spout boring dialogue at you." There's no exploration, nothing to find at all during these segments, and the game has the audacity to have "Take a seat" or "Find Moneypenny" or "Follow Moneypenny" in the corner, and if that's not bad enough, Bond will say lines like "I have to find Moneypenny" or "I wonder where Moneypenny is." when the ONLY thing you CAN do is open the door to find Moneypenny. This is the exact type of game that the "Zelda, but it's a modern game" videos take the piss out of.
The training montage section, they put a timer on the screen and tell you to do the very linear, no-fail gameplay section, again, why bother with these? Just make it a cutscene. If you're going to give control to the player and ask them to push forward to follow the character so the next scene could start, just MAKE THE WHOLE THING A CUTSCENE. You look at games like Goldeneye 007 or Deus Ex for example, there's no fucking around, they drop you right into the game, you start the video game and you play the video game; Start of Deus Ex, they ask you, "Do you want to go lethal or non-lethal? Short of long range? Here's your weapon, go." Just imagine people who complete 007 First Light and want to replay it, they have to sit through all this crap.
