IO Interactive General Thread - Developers of Project 007, Hitman, Freedom Fighters, Kane & Lynch (and Mini Ninjas)

  • The Kiwi Farms was targeted with a historic DDoS attack last week. Confirmed reports of 2.8Tbps on an individual provider, topping 4.8Tbps when known volumes are added together, and possibly up to 8Tbps if the attacker is believed. This is the third of fourth largest recorded.

You thought Soyny was bad with their self inserts, Here we have IO Interactive with the self insert of their bathroom cleaning lady from India as M in the game. Gotta fill them DEI quotas :story:

I don't care where the face model comes from, like I think Valve picked up a homeless guy off the street to get Eli Vance's face model, but these people are so indescribable that I'm going to forget what she looks like past being brown as soon as I go to a new thread.

Keep seething and watching synthetic man crywank on stream faggots. Game is a hit

You like the game little man...

At that point in time in the game Bond already banged some m16 secretary. Try better
You did fall for it i see, you need to realize this is the tactic of these subverted woketards now days. If they give you one hot female character among the sea of DEI slop, then they will say "don't worry guys this game has a hot woman, its safe". Its time you take of the blind folders.

This game’s characters are written really generically. Bond is a Marvel quip machine, the Bond girl is a discount Catwoman, Moneypenny is a neurotic snark machine, main bad guy is over the top and LE CRAZY. They also seemingly cribbed inspiration from Mission Impossible.

Also the combat is surprisingly barebones and limited. 2015’s Mad Max had a more versatile fighting system and that wasn’t even the focus.

Nigga even the biggest corporate shill reviewers are admitting that the game has massive problems and gets repetitive very quickly. What's the matter, regretting your preorder already?

Why did Moneypenny have to turn from secretary into tech wizard ex agent guru?
Bond in this game isn't bond. It would have been a good Uncharted 5 game or something.

Well, so much for escapism. Why would I want to play a game where I have to deal with a woman covered in stupid tattoos?

The "bombshells" being hyped up as desirable targets of flirtation (but you lose points or whatever they're using if you do so, apparently because it distracts from THE MISSION) in this game look like slightly graphicly upgraded Sims characters.. A couple of the female designs aren't too bad, but with them you can feel a few feeble hints of heterosexual attempts at sex appeal trying to chip and dig their way through thick layers of DEI-by-Comittee design and mandates.

At least in earlier Bond games, at a time when graphics lacked the supposed polish of today's games, the makers knew what the assignment was in:re Bond girls and tried harder to replicate the experience on-screen with the capabilities of the time

I despise what video games have become. 007 First Light is "Modern Game: The Video Game", with a 3 hour long tutorial. The dialogue is very stale, Bond constantly talks to himself and quips in an environment where he's supposed to be stealthy, because of course he does, it's the exact type of shit that the Focus, M video parodies.

There are QTEs that complete themselves if you let the timer for them run out, so why even bother having them? It's full of these fake gameplay sections that give you the illusion of control. And of course, the classic "Walk slowly and follow the person while they spout boring dialogue at you." There's no exploration, nothing to find at all during these segments, and the game has the audacity to have "Take a seat" or "Find Moneypenny" or "Follow Moneypenny" in the corner, and if that's not bad enough, Bond will say lines like "I have to find Moneypenny" or "I wonder where Moneypenny is." when the ONLY thing you CAN do is open the door to find Moneypenny. This is the exact type of game that the "Zelda, but it's a modern game" videos take the piss out of.

The training montage section, they put a timer on the screen and tell you to do the very linear, no-fail gameplay section, again, why bother with these? Just make it a cutscene. If you're going to give control to the player and ask them to push forward to follow the character so the next scene could start, just MAKE THE WHOLE THING A CUTSCENE. You look at games like Goldeneye 007 or Deus Ex for example, there's no fucking around, they drop you right into the game, you start the video game and you play the video game; Start of Deus Ex, they ask you, "Do you want to go lethal or non-lethal? Short or long range? Here's your weapon, go." Just imagine people who complete 007 First Light and want to replay it, they have to sit through all this crap.

But Hitman Absolution left me cold with it's changes to the gameplay,
absolution was the game that stopped me from preordering anything. the real start of e3 demos hoodwinking players. we ended up getting hallway level design with shit shooting and stealth.

did the new freedom fighters get any bug fixes?

It's sneaky for them making the tutorial 2-3 hours long so that it's passed the 2 hour refund window.

First off, his first mistake was paying 300 Euros (or $349 and change) for a "collector's edition", second, it's amazing how much "stuff" out there is passed off as a "premium", "exclusive" or "special edition" that is just cheap garbage that gets easily scuffed up and has parts fall off.

How is the gameplay?
Solid, melee has bully/sleeping dogs "hold combos" where you have different finishers based on when in the string you hold the attack button. Also has a grab with a couple different follow-ups. There's dodge and parry but the parry isn't about timing, just hitting the button anytime after it's telegraphed snaps into the parry, viewtiful style, so there's no pointlessly delayed attacks to lazily vary gameplay, as long as you recognize the prompt and react you're good. You can throw enemies into other enemies or into walls/off cliffs.

Guns are also elevated above basically every other shooter in existence, there's leg shots which allow you to do a melee follow-up without them guarding a grab or finisher. And arm shots to disarm further enemies so you can rush them from mid-range quickly. Stealth isn't an all or nothing affair you can clean up a room before the whole map gets alerted. The gadgets/interactables are also a ton of fun, you're rewarded for spatial awareness in many ways.

There's lots of room for player expression and it's very fluid. I had a lot of fun with what I've played so far. It feels like every aspect of the combat is well thought out.

You're ranked on performance, you need to hit those if you want a perfect rank.

The only things I've seen about this game online is people making joke character appearances and something about a brain dead dump truck scene.
All other discussion seems nonexistent.

Capcom's infinity gems comes to mind. They showed these beautifully crafted colored gems that people thought were going to be like tempered glass.
Then the reality comes in and its plastic Easter eggs probably from a walmart after Easter discount special.

I remember this guy. he's a very 007, Perfect Dark diehard fan.

Bro must be in shambles for considering ever buying slop collector edition for a very shit 007 game. from all entries this one takes the cake as the worst and i dare to say even goes beyond the levels of shit as 007 legends even.

I'm glad I still own my NTSC and PAL N64 Goldeneye 007 w manuals, that shit at least is retro quality & simple.

Review outlets and some content creators are hailing it as "the greatest 007 game since GoldenEye (N64)." That's a bold claim that holds a lot of weight. GoldenEye pioneered console multiplayer first person shooters. For First Light to be the greatest game since GoldenEye, IMHO, it has to do something revolutionary. Not just be better than Activision's meddling 007 games.

How is the gameplay?
I think the levels are Hitman based with multiple ways to execute a target.
