Regardless of the current woke argument as it just made me realize that I didn't remember Skyfall at all so I had no idea that the casted Moneypenny as a black. But even discounting that I dont see how this game will appeal to the casual Bond fans for a couple major reasons
1, the biggest one is the fact that Bond is young. Bond in popular culture was never a youbg guy, origin story or not this flies in the face of how Bond is established in culture. No one wants to see a young Bond just like how no one wants to see an old Indiana Jones
2, the popularity of the IP really fell off during the Craig era. This game would have to kick a ton of ass for it to be successful, with everything I have seen it looks like Uncharted. It does the scripting shit the pseudo stealth the movement etc. I dont look at it and go "wow must buy", so then you rely on Bond fans and without Casual Bond fans you are fucked
And to get back on the woke thing, yes Judi Dench played M, but no one gave a fuck about M as a character, if anything that was a clever DEI hire at the time. And no one gave a fuck that Connery was Scottish, his movies were what catapulted Bond into the mainstream. It quite frankly isnt that "Bond isnt irish/Scottish", but its that people dont think its Bond unless its Connery.
