I remember being a kid on New Year's Eve when I had a little dynamite on my hand and I threw it almost too close to me, it exploded on the ground but the burning remnants flied right into my face, almost got into my eye. I got so traumatized by the event that I've never tried using fireworks again and proceeded to only watch and not touching them.

I know of a guy where i live who stole TNT flakes, fuse and a detonator from army back in the 90s when he was 19.
Filled a tiny bag with tnt flakes, lit the detonators fuse, put it on a dirt road. A car was driving down the dirt road and he got spooked so he tried to kick the explosive into the ditch. Lost all his toes in the process on his right foot.

Oh, no, not at all, it was one of those little explosives you tend to explode for 4th of July. It is something like this.



You light them like a match, you throw them and they explode, it's like very basic fireworks parents use or used to give to kids when they want to use fireworks. The burning stick flew to my face and it hurt like a motherfucker, I got lucky that it didn't fly right into my eye, even though it went very close.
