All that is true except the decent money. There's a place near me that charges clients $100k+ a month, and has about 80 clients at once. The highest paid employees (excluding the visiting Drs.) Are the directors and head clinicians. And those require at least 4 year degrees. They'd make more working anywhere else. The jobs there are on Indeed right now for $70k a year and $45k a year.
The regular employees who do all the work and babysitting make barely more than minimum wage. And I'm in a "rich" State. The people making bank are the people who own and run rehabs and housing.
But yeah, I work with addicts in a different capacity and the ones who end up working in the field still enjoy helping others and it definitely helps them stay clean.
