I don't usually watch shows, but I found this one and I'm hooked. I find myself mulling it over and trying to figure out what's going on constantly. It's the first time I've ever gotten really into a show. Some of the theories on reddit are so stupid I have a hard time even reading them, so I wondered if any farmers are watching it and have ideas about what's going on.

I've heard of it. It sounds very Stephen King even though it's not his work.

I enjoyed the first season, but the second one started getting similar issues to what Lost had, with adding too many mystery points one after the other and solving barely any of them. The first episode of season 3 was interesting, but I am hoping they start solving stuff soon, I don't want to end up with 5+ seasons of nothing being resolved or figured out.
The creatures are neat though.

I think they promised the guy who plays Boyd that this show wouldn't have the same issues as Lost to get him to do it. Apparently he was hesitant to take the part because of the whole Lost debacle.

I have been watching since the beginning and I mostly enjoy it.

I can see how some people would draw some similitudes with Lost though. And ultimately, that's a bit of the issue with these mystery shows.

It's in the best interest of the show runners to leave it hanging, and this leads to having to rely on useless drama and plot lines to pad time.

In this case, I think the balance of both is still at an acceptable level.

Season 1 was very good, same for some moments in season 2, and I have some high hopes for the 3rd one after seeing
how they just messed up the cow and the old asian woman, legit was not expecting it to be so visceral

My only gripe is that I wish they would delve more into the town itself and the paranormal, and show some actual, literal, world-building, I can only give a shit for so long about inter-personal drama between Boyd, the old woman and the preacher - and the lukewarm drama about the pregnant girl.

I'ts 2024, they show monsters every 3 episodes for like 20 seconds, surely the CG could be a bit better.

John Griffin, the show's creator and main writer:
“We know exactly where the show is going. We have always known. It was very important. It’s hard to start a road trip without knowing what your destination is. It’s fine to take unexpected or unintended stops along the way and allow yourself to be surprised, but a show like this is very much a contract with the audience.”
Either he is a bullshit artist or this will somehow not turn out like Lost. I watched S1 for free on tubi or some shit and it was pretty decent, but I've heard S2 gets more stupid so I'm not getting my hopes up tbh.

agree completely! and if I don't get more of Victor's memories soon I'm going to start biting people. I think the show creators said this is the season we start getting answers. There's just so many different pieces and all the monsters aren't even from the same genre? Like how do the night monsters connect to the woman in the kimono and the music box thing??? It must be one hell of an explanation.

I hope so, my greatest fear right now is that we are forced into another drama plot regarding the fact that
Boyd "failed" to protect the Asian guy's grandmother, and that "he should've been there to help".

And we get stonewalled out of getting answers to anything, whilst simultaneously, my greatest hope right now is the wife meeting
victor's father

Yeah the drama is a bit much. I really just want to see more monsters and figure out the hows and whys but I guess there has to be the drama element.

To your second point, I think that's happening this coming episode! S3E2! I've checked out the preview pictures that were uploaded and it looks like there's some very interesting stuff in the house she goes to!

Do you have any theories as to what's going on in the town?

I couldn't stand Harold Perrineau as Michael in LOST, so there's no way in hell I'd watch a whole show with him as the lead.
He's honestly not the worst part of the show, it's a bit confusing, I'd thought the main family was meant to be the main cast, as we technically can relate the most to them, but they pretty much become literal "who's" and he's not doing a bad job at keeping me somewhat invested.

It's honestly very hard to tell what and where they are going, my only speculation, that to a certain degree I hope is what is happening, is that it's simply just a specific location that was pulled into another universe, animals and a small town included, trapped in a dome-like state, maybe because something unfathomable just wanted to be entertained, I like and rarely use his art so pretty much something like this:

This is why the drama is getting to me a bit, I don't want and give a shit about the inter-personal relationship between the family and the sheriff, the lesbian couple or the son and the woman he knocked up, although it can be well-used if put into the context of where they are and if the kid will be affected, but I sadly doubt that - It's not bad and it's had good moments, but all I genuinely wanted was for them to one day look out into the woods, see this:

And then try to find some way of surviving it, whilst trying to find a way out, repeating until they do, let the story board get creative - What about you?

i just watched the entire thing off your recommendation.
i thought it was fantastic but they should probably wrap it up this season before it gets too stale
my favourite character was randall. His immediate questioning of the situation was handled really well, when given the idea that the entire thing was a government conspiracy. His first thoughts to start questioning those who initially came forth as leaders made total sense and was really proactive. normally in shows like this, characters like him would be nothing but a hinderance, but the first thing randall did when arriving in town was to risk his life to save jims wife without knowing anything, his first instinct being to save people whenever he can,
