No, Norman Bates actually used his education (in taxidermy), ran his own business, didn't crash into slumber when there was a stressful situation, actually stood up to his mother, was able to have a conversation with a strange woman, and is OK with short hair.

So basically, Norman Bates is more well-adjusted than Chris.
