Depends on the sort of degeneracy. BDSM isnt that bad if it isnt taken to insane extremes because it kinda helps filter out shitty people who think they have a free pass and would have been equally as shitty just in a more subtle way otherwise.
Once your certain they aren't going to be a scumbag about it it can be surprisingly relaxing but definitely not for everyone

No happy, well adjusted person feels the need to introduce having their balls run through a meat grinder or whatever into their sex lives, even if it's "just once". It's a desperate action from a desperate person who's brain is so thoroughly fucked up that sex doesn't feel good to them any more. It's the sexual equivalent of chasing the dragon.
