No matter the spelling a contraction is wrong and i hope the common core zoomers don't make this happen.
There are no valid English words that contain two sequential exes. There are some proper nouns like Exxon and Fluxx that use it, and it's used in Roman numerals, but as far as generic words that show up in real dictionaries it's completely unheard of.But I want to know which one is more grammatically correct.
Interesting, I never thought of it that way. There are no valid English words that contain two sequential exes. There are some proper nouns like Exxon and Fluxx that use it, and it's used in Roman numerals, but as far as generic words that show up in real dictionaries it's completely unheard of.
Based on that precedent "doxing" would be the grammatically correct spelling, especially since phonetically-similar words like "boxing" and "foxing" are also spelled with a single x. There's no way to clearly pronounce sequential exes anyway, so there's no reason to use them in any functional word. People add them to brand names because they think it looks cool, but that type of stylization isn't used for normal words.
If you wanted to be generous you could argue that "doxxing" is an accepted slang spelling like "thicc", but that doesn't change the fact that "doxing" is the only grammatically proper spelling.
I think that's just called Google.Anyone remember a website called doxdog? You could enter usernames into it and it would find every instance of that account. Shit wuz fire.
