Is FedNow really going to be the answer?

What's stopping FedNow from having the same bullshit policies that other payment processors have?
FedNow is just a replacement to the archaic ACH system. It's not a service like Stripe or PayPal is but instead a system that provides account-to-account payment transfers. Give me a :optimistic: but I personally don't think it would even be possible for the government to "deplatform" someone from FedNow. The implications of doing so would also be far greater than a private company like PayPal deleting your account, because this would essentially be the government blacklisting you from access to transferring funds out of your bank account. The only vector of attack to deplatform someone would be for the bank to stop doing business with them. And in that case there are hundreds of credit unions that would have access to the same FedNow system that major banks do giving you what is essentially your own payment processor.

My concern with FedNow is not the system itself but that it's a segue into a central bank digital currency which will be far more totalitarian than anyone can imagine.

Another concern I have is how closely the feds can watch purchases. Visa got a lot of flack when they said they would flag gun purchases. But FedNow can just do it automatically and quietly.

I wouldn't use it for day-to-day purchases, and anything important like firearms you should be purchasing in cash whenever possible. This will really help out Josh though, seeing as he's been unable to effectively fundraise due to private company policies for a long time now.
