Is It Shameful To Ignore Users Debate Thread

This sentiment has been expressed many times on the Internet. People who ignore or block someone are using a feature in its intended purpose as it was designed. On the other hand the users who criticize such behavior often call them fragile or weak for doing so. Who is right and who is wrong on this matter?

I think there are too many variables at play to reduce this to a hard set rule.

There are people out there who make a goal out of being so insufferably annoying that others block them, then they gloat about being blocked.

There are also people out there who are so unable to handle opinions and views contrary to their own that they use crowd sourced block lists to mass block people before they even interact with them.

Its gay to not be able to handle seeing a post you disagree with, however its much gayer to shit up a thread with arguing because you can't help yourself. If using the ignore button stops that then that'd be the favorable option.
On social media however if you block someone while also announcing that you are blocking them then you are a pussy bitch. These people need to be mocked like they used to.

I don't really understand the point of blocking/ignoring people on forums. Is it really that difficult to just not read something and keep scrolling?
When you read through a thread do you read someone's name first or read the post and then check who wrote it afterwards? I do the latter.

There are a bunch of accounts on my block list because their posts are almost always complete garbage and it is an active waste of my (already not particularly valuable) time to read them. It's a simple win for me with zero downsides.

Case in Point:
If you hit block/ignore, you lose. Simple as
This mentality is, at best, childish nigger bullshit, and should be shamed.

It's right there, sweetie. Go ahead and press it like the good little sissy you are. :)
I don't block/ignore people personally because I appreciate the Internet at its fullest.

My point is that people who turn it into a game of "who can put up with annoying retards the longest" are as childish as niggers.

I barely pay attention to usernames unless it's one I see regularly. I don't really care who writes what most of the time.

Right, same. And every now and again I notice a pattern of complete crap being posted by the same account. They go on the blocklist. I don't really get into arguments with anyone here so that's pretty much the only reason I block. Inevitably some time after I've blocked them they get banned for being a sped.

Ignoring is useful if they are spamming or simply annoying. If they are actual opposition it is important to stay abreast of their plans. Much like how they tell abused women not to block their stalkers because seeing that text of "im coming to git u bitch" can save their life.

Yeah. See, I just don't read things I don't want to read.
