Is it worth being on Social Media anymore? - Was social media even worth it at all?

IMO it's all turned into unusable cancer and there is barely any worth in it. Facebook and the like started losing its appeal to me when it wanted to be everything at once - a place hosting forums/groups, a platform for selling things etc. and when all the apps started to copy each other. When I open any of the apps I am overwhelmed with the amount of tabs, videos, ads and other mind-numbing garbage suggested by The Algorithm on my feed burying actual updates from friends and family. I feel like I am being shilled something all the time and I just can't stand it. The only worth I find in Facebook is its groups, it's just convenient to join and discuss things in these communities.

It’s all bollocks. If you have a small group you want to chat and share with set up a WhatsApp or telegram chat or whatever.
I have a FB account from years back I never really use, and when I first had kids I tried to join a few mum and baby groups for buy and sell. They were all howling vortices of madness. Even knitting g groups online are prone to descending into the abyss.
There’s no point

It was never worth it to begin with. I remember nerds warning people to stay away from those in the 2000's, and the several scandals mushrooming throughout the 2010's that nerds warned everybody against. This shit destroyed the internet irreversibly and mind-broke billions of people.

Facebook is mostly for turd worlders, and primarily Indians.

Only use it to keep in touch with some old boomer fags who cannot understand anything internet related. Or the market place if you use it. Other than that, its just a government controlled echo chamber full of the very worst humanity has to offer. Pinterest is legit leagues ahead of facebook in actual use.
