Is religion outdated?

Religion doesn’t get the same clout if you’re a grifter, the gig is up, instead fake being a tranny and setting up a go fund me for a surgery you’ll never do.

Religion will never be outdated as a concept. But individual religions may become outdated. Hence why we don't see too many Pagans running around.

Historically, periods with widespread levels of atheism are followed by a boom in new religions plus a die-off / reformation of the old ones.

So maybe the concept of a "sky daddy" will become a thing of the past, like rain dances or human sacrifices as we evolve as a society. The west is already indulging the idea that we have a magic internal identity (such as "gender identity"), different to our phyiscal body which dictates 'who you really are'. It also removes the concept of a supreme creator and replaces it with a desire to achieve maximum personal satisfaction. As long as you feel happy about it.

It's essentially the concept of an immortal soul, but instead of following a set of rules, you should be "true to yourself" rather than trying to get into heaven based on rules already layed out. Modern religions are in decline, in part because people percieve them as being too rule based, in a time where people demand more freedom from social norms that they see as overly restrictive and outdated.

Not quite, but it's been replaced as the dominant form of population control in society. That position goes to political/social justice and "science" in the sense that disagreeing with public opinion and "experts" will get you ridiculed, fired, or worse depending on where you live. Besides Islam in the deep middle east, I can't think of any modern religion that has that kind of power anymore—power to just straight de-person somebody for simple disagreement.

Religion will always be a thing I feel. People find comfort in believing that there is something more to this universe than this miserable gay planet. Can you really blame someone for hoping beyond hope that there is a point to all of this shit?

So long as there are parents teaching it to their kids, there will always be religion. Most kids don’t question any of it until they’re way older or just never question it at all.

Atheists and humanists can be just as religious about irreligion as the religious about religion.

And of course the woke can be just as religious about social "justice" as actual cult members.

So nah, religion isn't "outdated" - and the idea that "progress" is one-way linear path is pretty cult-like BTW.

I don't think so. I think despite the failings of the Catholic Church (amongst others), many stories in the Bible are timeless. Love your neighbour, don't bear false witness, don't rob or kill, etc. are all lessons that are as relevant in the 21st century as they were in the 1st.

Anyway, four bucks a pound.

Seeing as how Atheism and the theory of Evolution has brought no advancements to the world, scientific or otherwise, I would say no. Many discoveries and much of our culture is the result of religion. Godless belief contributes nothing.

Aside from that, there has been a definite turn toward "spirituality" in place of plain ole' Atheism. Even if you don't believe in a god, a lot of people are innately aware of the importance of their souls.

Religion isn't outdated, because it is what gives purpose to our lives. Nowadays people just substitute religion with politics or esoteric mumbo jumbo. That is why most people you meet nowadays are somewhere between political fanatics, nihilistic slobs or brainrotten woo peddling "spiritualists".

Some interesting points raised, and in a sense new religions have replaced the traditional (i.e. SJWs \ science and individuality worshipping).
But I can't help but look at religious texts and think - you'd have to be retarded to believe this. Turning water to wine - eating pigs is evil - cut off your foreskin - pray to your magic man - just nonsense. Sounds edgy, but all that superstitious mythic nonsense shouldn't be believed.
Remembered, and studied for cultural value, like the old Norse myths? Perhaps. But religion in the traditional sense just feels so incompatible with a modern post-industrial society.

Just a few years ago I liked Religion for its tradition \ history \ as a bukwark against leftism. But now it just seems silly.
