That one on this chart really makes it clear this is a political propaganda tool rather than an actual chart. George Soros is a guy that exists and has a lot of money and sometimes does mildly shady if not very shady shit, thats much lower than pretty much everything else on the chart.

That's because this isn't really a 'conspiracy chart' it's a 'right wing buzzword' chart. Allegedly it's including words used 'against marginalized groups', but soyboys are usually straight cis white dudes, so you may as well list chud there if the chart were anything but a blatant propaganda piece.

I always wondered if Flat Earth was something that engineered to either study how information spreads or use as a convenient strawman to shoot down anybody who dares to question anything.

It's disinfo used to shoot down anyone that questions a narrative. You can see it perfectly online and even on this forum. Mekotaur did it in a thread a while back, where his reply to every question or dissenting opinion was "You conspiracy theorists believe anything, just like flat earth". It may have been the thread about covid boosters...

Nobody in history believed that the earth was flat. It was a misunderstanding of an old map of the earth that was depicted as flat, with ships sailing off of the ends of the 'disc'. All it was meant to say was "We have no idea what is beyond the 'known' world, sail there at your peril", in the same way that sea monsters on maps are a way of telling sailors that the waters are dangerous.

The misunderstanding became a popular 'meme/trope' and then when conspiracy theories became mainstream in 2015/2016 - because political spergs thinking everything Trump was a 'conspiracy', flat earth was used as way of tarring conspiracy theorists as crazy.

Even the term conspiracy theory or conspiracy theorist has been changed to 'anyone who questions'. When conspiracy theory used to be a cool talking point about things unknown and a little bit mysterious. Ancient aliens, ancient tech, moon landings, jfk, future tech etc were fun conspiracy theories. 5G zombies, Qanon and pedogate (while probably true) aren't conspiracy theories.

Wayfair had unusual furniture for sale for like 20k (think an ikea bookcase that normally retails for 200 dollars) that had product names that matched missing children. People were speculating that it was being used as a cover front for sex trafficking.

FE started out as a fundamentalist christian movement. It was then hijacked as an inside-joke/troll/endless sperg (and spawned countless other like the flat mars society), it then attracted some fundamentalist christians again and now it's mostly overtaken by people who actually believe in it without any relation to christianity at all.
