Is the West better? - Regarding freedom/human rights/oligarchs

Been thinking, are we better off in the West?

We're slamming off China and Russia for being harsh on human rights, but there's stronger push here to abolish them in exchange of 'safety'.

Censorship and government criticism is not granted in the West anymore; it's not the freedom to speak whatever like it is portrayed.

While oligarchs are common in the Orient, we are seeing a greater push for oligarchy in the West as well. Canada and Australia are basically slave states. EU can overrule/bully any state into submission. USA is just meddling in foreign affairs and imposing itself on everyone...

Individual freedom is being chipped away in the West as well. Soon enough we will have a system similar to China's, where people can be restricted from traveling/buying food for saying the wrong thing.

China and Russia are their shades of totalitarianism, while the beauty of a proper third world shithole is that it's so broken and dysfunctional that you can do anything you want because the government can't even enforce its laws or make its citizens pay taxes. Half of Pakistan or so doesn't pay taxes. This is Heaven. Since they destroyed our lives with c0vid I'm suspicious of any efficient form of government.

My metric of how on board a country is on the c0vid game is by how many cases they report, Pakistan was left untouched basically, so it isn't particularly on board with this bs. At some point it'll have to lift the mandate.

West is still a better place to live. Social justice, the neoliberal political establishment, and the unsavory aspects of western big business are awful, but they don’t compare to the level of authoritarianism and frugalism the average Chinese pleb or Arab family lives under.

Most people who try to paint Russia/the CCP as benevolent nations standing up to le evil west engage in cherry picking and the grass is greener fallacies of one kind or the other. “Omg, the media not liking my right wing politics and painting the Charlottesville rally in a bad light is just like how the CCP has legislation making dissent illegal and deploys tanks and APCs against its own protestors!” Or “man, working a 9/5 job with the inflating dollar sucks. The gap between quality of live of the west and the rest of the world is shrinking however, both due to western problems and widespread industrialization in the rest of the world.

Whether or not the west is "better" depends on what you're comparing it to. If you're comparing it to Pakistan or Turkey, of course it is. If you're comparing it to something like Finland.... I don't know.

i'm not sure about uganda but KSA atleast has a lower crime rate than let's say america. lack of religion is why we see depression/suicide rates skyrocketing in western countries, but a lack of in countries whose majority believes in a god
