Twitter says there's going to be blackouts worldwide in the summer because something something energy crisis. I'd like to hear from somewhere that isn't Twitter.

I'm still wondering if that downy gremlin was a plant by a politician or corporation. I'm not huge on wild conspiracy theories but I could easily see some people pushing something retarded like this to grease up the masses to push through some retarded laws that will line the pockets of the Powers That Be™

She's one hundred percent a plant of some sort, maybe not in the sense that she was completely created by them but her parents are massive attention whores and there's no shortage of people in power that would make use of a useful idiot such as that. Regulation always benefits those already established, which is why oil companies fund so much of the green research as the first mover can always shape the system around their mode of business and has the most data to back it up.

Hell, look at who supports the 15$ minimum, it's all the big corporations as they can pay that amount and many already do, but if you're a small business you can't really manage that and many small independent shops offer various benefits to employees that are not cash based. For example a hobby store may allow an employee to buy product at cost, thus attracting a part time employee who views the savings on their hobby purchases as worthwhile as they'd be in the establishment most weekends anyway. This way the shop can pay a lower wage, cover some shifts the owner can't work, and everyone wins, but if they're forced to pay the higher minimum then they're shit out of luck.

Also if you look at it historically people in power know how to manipulate people very easily. When the Fed was being created the bankers that met in secret and proposed the Federal Reserve realized if they pitched it, people wouldn't like it, so they had news sources write how much they opposed it and how awful the Fed would be for big banks. This worked out and the Fed was created, then proceeded to bail out the big banks over and over throughout history.

All I know is where I live broke temperature records last summer in ways unforeseen and a lot of people did indeed die because AC is not commonplace and no one is acclimated to such severe heat. Part fear-porn and part actual fear of what happened in some parts of the globe last summer.
