Just like in the USA, you had Communist and Fascist militias duking it out in the streets, false flag atrocities, the right attempting coups, the left setting up independent communes, all tolerated by the government because there were enough people in the government who were sympathetic to them to let it slide in the hope their "side" won.

Not to say there is any shortage of hyper-politicized retards fighting each other at certain protests, but that's a really overly melodramatic way of putting it.

I would describe the atmosphere right now as "elevated". It's definitely better at this moment than it has been the last couple years, though things will probably heat up as the election approaches.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the 1950s, 5 being Vietnam War/ Floyd protests, 10 being full-blown Weimar, I'd say we're at a 3 currently.

Could things blow up in the future? Sure. But it would take a Great Depression level catastrophe. Things aren't as crazy here as the media and people on the Internet make it seem.

We're more likely to see basic balkanization over time, than a real civil war. A state doesn't have to technically secede to begin acting largely independently. I could easily see several states effectively becoming a separate economic block over time, pooling resources to make up for lost Federal funding, and largely ignoring whatever Federal rulings they don't want to abide by. There's signs of this already beginning, and if we keep getting dementia patients in the White House through obvious election fraud, it'll only accelerate as states are given more and more reason to go their own way.

We've also already had portions of states trying to join up with neighboring states, mostly parts of Oregon trying to become parts of Idaho. So this balkanization might not even follow actual state-boundaries, but might be more on a district or county basis.

There's not much the Feds can do to stop this beyond withholding funds and empty threats of violence (already happening, what with Biden's frequent threats of nuking cities and using F16's to fight gun owners). If Texas and a few other states came to some sort of agreement to share resources, the lack of Federal funds would be largely mitigated, ending that threat. And the Feds will never initiate a war with a state government, so that threat is entirely empty. There's just too much risk in fighting a war, they'd try to sabotage and undermine the state election system instead, which would just lead the state to isolate itself from the Federal government even more.

I figure over the next century we'll see the US break into four or five distinct (and possibly overlapping) economic zones that mostly operate separately from Federal control, with less and less attention given to the Feds. Similar to how power blocks form in any large institution, like Congress, with the so-called leaders having less real power than some of the blocks.

@WhiskeyJack referred to states acting independently. This is my own prediction, after the conservatards kept tarding after the election was blatantly stolen I accepted there is no CW2. The best thing that can happen (that will also not happen, conservatives love losing, they crave it like they crave Israeli dick) is that this trend towards "sanctuaries" (<70 IQ version of nullification) gets more extreme. As is, we have a recent precedent of Leftist states doing whatever the fuck they want to do with their immigrant sanctuaries and of Rightist counties doing the same with the Second Amendment.

This could become more pronounced in the future. States could progress from nullifying just certain key topics to habitually nullifying everything they dislike. They could pretend that their losing candidate won the election anyways. They could have their officers actively obstruct federal law enforcement, even counter-arrest them, and dare the Feds to invade (the Feds won't). The biggest weakness they have is the fact the Feds steal a massive amount of wealth and then offer it back conditional on obedience. They could have IRS sanctuaries and just outright refuse to allow citizens to be arrested for nonpayment of taxes, while building up their own national guards, which some states already unilaterally decided they will not allow the President to use in police actions in the future.

The United States, instead of dying spectacularly, dies like the Holy Roman Empire, or the authority of the Japanese Emperor. The President and Congress become more and more irrelevant with each passing year without ever actually going away, so the structure of government exists on paper but soon becomes a meaningless cultural thing like the British monarchy.

California, New York, Texas, and South Carolina (it sounds odd/outdated, but despite being talked about little anymore they're one of the most self-absorbed flag-waving people I've ever encountered) are the states that have the most likelihood to experience genuine nationalism, in the sense that they are places known for having stronger state than national identity, and California is genuinely developing a little national conciousness like how Dixie nationalism slowly emerged. Deseret has potential due to Mormondom's excellent institutions, but their leadership is completely pozzed with neoconservatism and dollar lust, so that won't go anywhere without a Mormon Reformation.

Unfortunately, the indoctrination is working well enough and technology is advancing fast enough that by the time shit really hits the fan with economic collapse+totalitarian government (i.e. Supreme Court rules nationwide Australia-style lockdowns during the next scamdemic are legal), there will be no leaders as millennials and older who remember the US not being a total shitheap will be dead or impoverished old people. Younger generations will also be dirt poor and too indoctrinated outside of a based few. Thus the second civil war will just be a series of Ruby Ridge/Waco style actions on the side of the government and the occasional "domestic terrorist attack" on the side of the patriots. I guess call that the "let's just keep the establishment in power and they'll solve anything because they have endless inertia toward it." It's the "safe" and "boring" option, where we enjoy an oligarchic totalitarian state that masquerades as a democracy slowly grind the opposition out of existence via censorship, mass indoctrination, and rigging elections and the courts to strike any law they hate and engage in vexatious lawfare against political opponents. Freedom will slowly die here, replaced by Our Democracy of degenerate transhumanism.

From the other side, the opposition/dissidents have no way of achieving their goals except via revolution. The 2018 election fraud was never followed up on, so in 2020 it increased even more and by 2022 they've perfected the system. In the process, a lot of politicians who may have helped avert the civil war and restore order were never elected. At this point we'd need an ugly process of largescale protests, strike actions and boycotts, and yes, the occasional bit of direct violence when the state really goes too far. You know, things the leftists do every day. They would need to bring in Andrew Jackson pt. 2 to absolutely drain the swamp, and that means breaking up banks and big corporations, breaking the power of fund managers like Blackrock, jailing all manner of politicians for corruption. If you thought FDR and Lincoln crossed the line too many times, this guy absolutely would. We'd have a similar low-level civil war to what I said in the first paragraph, and we'd see the NG cracking Antifag skulls in every city nationwide.

But after that guy and his successors do a few terms in office and the media and education system is unpozzed and back to promoting American values (actual ones, not sodomy and anti-white hatred), things would settle down again and we'd end up with another golden age. Sadly, we'd probably just create Boomers pt. 2 and have to deal with the same shit 2-3 generations later. You know, just like the Silent Generation and especially Boomer fucks who caused this shit.

I think there are a few very good reasons that a second civil war is unlikely. The populace is too content, and currently has far too many emplaced distractions.

Most people don't even bother with politics, because it's become a soul sucking chore, no matter what side you're on. People here only start caring when the presidential election rolls around again, and the rancorous media hype train builds up a head of steam to oversimplify things. And then we elect another dud because the actual power doesn't really exist in the government anymore. It's bought and paid for through loopholes by oligarchs via lobbyists and special interest groups that they have spent a long time crafting. Some of the same ideas apply though. If you want social change in a timeframe that's stupidly short and won't work, vote dem. If you want to stymie that for 4 years, vote GOP. Either choice is going to use the political machine to make your life worse, The dems will always try to grow the government and so your taxes increase for bullshit you never needed for "The common good", and the GOP will support corporate greed and slowly make you miserable as huge corps get unneeded tax breaks and all kinds of other shit that drives the cost of living up while they crow about cutting taxes and only do it for their cronies and the rich. Oh, and also do the same thing the dems do in propping up central banks. Funny, that.

Also, the way the US works, there are ways states can basically tell the feds to go fuck themselves. While the federal govt is bloated, inefficient, and increasingly overbearing, the way the US is set up is that each state is kind of it's own country within a larger whole, or so it was planned as to get away from what the British Monarchy was. This is a good point to bring up secession, and why it won't happen. Back when the first civil war broke out, the US was a vastly different country. The south was agrarian, and the north had all the industry for the most part. There was no common communication means like the internet is today, and that's what really throws a huge wrench in the gears of a second civil war. The feds would barely have to do anything, since the internet has atomized us. It's unlikely imo, but you could have some revcommie in a trailer plotting a courthouse takeover in rural Mississippi, or some guy who wants to bring Italian Fascism to Seattle working for Apple remotely in Spokane. Secession, while not really "Against the law", has really harsh penalties for trying it after the first civil war. More perfect union blah blah blah. You'll see states move borders around before you see a group of the actively secede, and even that is a big ask, and hard to do.

Also, anyone smart knows what a breakup of the US or a civil war means. It would be a foreign policy free for all till the dust settled. Hell, wiping out the petrodollar alone would mean mass chaos financially for a long time. I know some are literally champing at the bit to do away with it, but that's really a be careful what you wish for type of situation. I hate the petrodollar, but it does keep stability to a point.

Ultimately, I personally think that the worst part of the division is far from over, given how revolutionary minded some of my cohorts on the left have become in spite of the facts staring them in the face. The elected on the right aren't powerless to stop them at all, but with the choice given them to nut up or shut up in the face of what the activists on the left want, which is social upheaval so they can force their whims on the masses, they choose to meekly shut up and accrue monetary capital and listen to their own lobbying class and the tidings of the central banks sucking the lifeblood of society like engorged ticks. Because you know, it never happens to them.

America's political polarisation is worsening every year. In the last three years we have already seen right-wingers storming Congress, and left-wingers declaring independence from the US (CHAZ/CHOP). All media seems to be propaganda for one side or the other, and the rhetoric from both sides is apocalyptically violent (TND, Punch a Nazi, Trans Genocide etc.). As an (admitted) outsider and student of history, right now America most closely resembles the Weimar Republic or late Tsarist Russia, both of which fell to civil war. Civil wars which both resulted in the rise of two of the three most evil and oppressive regimes in human history (the third, Maoist China, also came from a civil war, but one with different causes). Civil wars, coups and revolutions seldom result in improvements to the lot of their citizens. Were the Germans better off under Hitler? The Russians under Lenin/Stalin? The Chinese under Mao? The only wars that seem to improve the lots of citizens at all tend to be wars of independence, such as the American Revolution or those of Slovenia and Croatia. Otherwise they lead to dictatorship and genocide on a scale that even most of their proponents wouldn't have wanted.

The way I see things playing out is as follows. I don't know when this will happen, frankly it could happen tomorrow or in 50 years. But the way things are going this will happen eventually:

1 - A Blue state (most likely California or Oregon, maybe New York) passes legislation that the right fundamentally object to. Maybe reparations, something tranny-related, gun bans, in-home state surveillance to detect racism, something like that.
2 - SCOTUS rules it unconstitutional.
3 - Blue state decides to ignore SCOTUS and do it anyway.
4 - Republican President/Congress calls it sedition and mobilises the National Guard.
5 - Blue state declares independence
6 - Boogaloo

It could go the other way, with a Red state doing something a Democrat Congress/President won't stand for, but at the moment it's the left who are being more provocative.

In terms of the outcome of the war, barring external intervention, the right would not only win, but crush the left. The left hate guns, they hate discipline, courage, strength, hierarchy and opsec - in other words all the things you need to win a war. The vast majority of the military would side with the right. And the right would control the food supply, the transport infrastructure, munitions plants and most importantly the power infrastructure. All the fancy AI Silicon Valley techno-drones won't do much good with no power and no fuel. So when the dust settles, a victorious right would claim "emergency powers" and turn the USA into a real Fascist dictatorship - not the one the left insist we already have, but real, swastikas-and-genocide fascism. The cost of rebuilding will be beyond the ability of the massively indebted federal government to repay, and it would go bankrupt, maybe dissolve entirely. Not only would there not be enough funds to rebuild the country's infrastructure, there wouldn't be enough money for welfare, the health system or very much at all. It will be absolutely brutal and miserable, and famine is likely. In the phenomenally unlikely event that the Left wins (such as the Chinese intervening), then replace the Fascist dictatorship with a Communist one, which will be much the same but with a different flag. And dictatorships with problems at home start wars abroad to serve as a distraction, someone to blame and something to occupy otherwise idle and rebellious young men. A Fascist US government might invade Mexico to "help" their government deal with drug cartels and the immigrant problem, or invade Canada if they supported the left in the civil war (if it broke out tomorrow, you know Trudeau would). Decades of bloodshed and carnage, any of which could lead to a nuclear holocaust.

So the question is this: What would it take to calm things down? Are there any examples from history of countries that pulled themselves back from the brink? Part of the problem is that I suspect the answer to the question for many Americans would be "when those assholes in California/Florida realise they're the bad guys and stop what they're doing". I don't see how that's going to happen, personally.

And if you think an second American Civil War would be good and glorious and make life better, you've not been paying attention. Read a history book.
