Disaster Is this the end of Lori Lightfoot? - On Thursday, news broke that the mayor’s campaign had sent an email attempting to recruit Chicago Public School students to “help” with the incumbent’s reelection effort

As President Biden’s team tried to put out fires regarding the Curious Case of the Corvette and the FAA fiasco, one Democrat must have been grateful for the White House’s sudden maelstrom of bad news.

When it rains it pours — and Joe’s torrent of bad headlines overshadowed Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s latest scandal that is brewing in the Windy City.

On Thursday, news broke that the mayor’s campaign had sent an email attempting to recruit Chicago Public School students to “help” with the incumbent’s reelection effort. The students would earn class credit in exchange for their contributions.

After this unethical email made its way to the press, prompting outrage from other candidates in the race, Team Lightfoot sloppily attempted to backtrack — not once, but three times.

The first statement explained that the effort was designed “to provide young people with the opportunity to engage with our campaign, learn more about the importance of civic engagement and participate in the most American of processes.” It was for the children, don’t you see?

The following statements assured the public that Team Lightfoot would cease contact with CPS employees.

Later that day, it was revealed that recruiting emails were not just sent to CPS teachers but also to instructors at the City Colleges of Chicago. Many hands make light work!

When addressing the media, Lightfoot did what all desperate politicians do when in a bind: she blamed a young staffer for the disaster.

Regardless of the lame excuses, the damage was done.

Now the question is whether or not this latest blunder will be enough to sink the Lightfoot ship.

After all, it’s not the first time Lori has taken on water.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the mayor shut down salons and barbershops and told Chicagoans that “getting your roots done is not essential.” Later, a photo emerged of the Mayor getting her hair trimmed by a stylist.

Rather than apologize for the misstep, a defiant Lightfoot defended her blatant hypocrisy. “I’m the public face of this city,” she huffed. “I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye. I’m a person who, I take my personal hygiene very seriously, as I said I felt like I needed to have a haircut.”

This Marie Antoinette moment is just one example of her many mayoral lowlights.

In October, amid a crime surge in Chicago, Lightfoot promoted a karaoke competition by posting a cringeworthy TikTok of herself lip-syncing Magic Sam’s “Sweet Home Chicago” into a microphone. Needless to say, some of her constituents suspected her priorities could do with a reshuffle.

Though her social media is peppered with wince-inducing attempts to appear relatable, she apparently does not put that same effort into her everyday life.

In June 2021, bizarre emails leaked between the mayor and staffer Taylor Lewis. Lightfoot, obviously displeased with her busy schedule, told Lewis that she needs “office time every day!” She repeated this line sixteen times in a row. Each complaint is repeated multiple times in the screed that reads like something out of The Shining.

But what will be the final straw for Lightfoot — if there even is one?

None of these scandals alone would be a death knell for a politician in 2023. Plenty of out-of-touch politicians were caught breaking their own Covid rules. Former speaker Nancy Pelosi got caught getting her hair done and she had the audacity to claim she was “set up.” Embarrassing social media fails seem to be a major part of the Democrat brand nowadays. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer filmed herself dancing along to Megan Thee Stallion on TikTok. The president once made a mortifying TikTok with the Jonas Brothers. And being mean to staffers has not hindered any of the politicians climbing the ranks today. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Representative Katie Porter’s reputations make Miranda Priestly seem like a compassionate leader.

But when you combine all of these out-of-touch gaffes and political missteps and then add in this week’s email scandal, this could be a tipping point for Lori.

She recently told voters that their only rational choice is to return her to office. Let’s see how rational the people of Chicago are feeling on Election Day at the end of next month.

Lori made more enemies than friends during the riots, despite thinking she'd become the next Richard Daley. She cannot handle any pressure and carefully chooses whom to do interviews with. Even other aldermen have argued and called her out on her bullshit.

Why did we give a fish the office to begin with? The bitch is always looking 3 different directions despite only having 2 eyes.

I think she has some legit deformity and isn't just ugly. There's something weird going on there. She should have had those eyes fixed a long time ago. It would have helped a lot.

Oh, how cute, you expect CHICAGO of all places to let a DEMOCRATIC MAYOR suffer consequences?

Look, she could gun down Santa Claus in the street and nothing would happen.

The absolute WORST this could cause is that she "steps down" for "personal reasons" to "spend more time with family" and walks into a "consulting" gig that pays just as much.

She will never get in trouble, because she is under the protection of the Great Old Ones. The reason that this innsmouth looking bitch is even in office, is because her uncle is probably Dagon.

She's so repulsive to look at, and has no actual personality. How the hell did she get into office? Trump at least had a fire under his arse, orange tan or not.
The 2019 election was a mess. They had over a dozen candidates in the first round. The "smart" choice was Bill Daley, part of the Daley machine and brother to Richard J. You knew he was corrupt except the trains would run on time.

The rub was by 2019 the full schizo race war social justice machine was in full swing. So two nigger bitches (Lightfoot and Precwinkle) finished 1&2 in the general. Daley was third. As a result it was a sheeboon vs sheeboon run off. Lightfoot was black AND gay versus Precwinkle just being black and Precwinkle was a known bitch. So that's how Chicago made a deal with the devil. They drunk too much gay and black Kool aid

I'm a bit shocked she was this blatant about it, usually it's a set of incentives that just "magically" result in kids helping out with politics.

Which of course isn't unethical even if the result is identical. 🙄

Seeing as how this bitch is a Lovecraftian nightmare I'm not particularly sure there is an "end" to her if you can call it that. But hopefully she can get booted out of office, then again this is Chicago politics the most corrupt in the nation.

At the risk on seeming edgy, fuck 'em. They get what they deserve. If you vote for idiots, expect to have a bad time. Also, she has dead eyes. It's like looking into the eyes of a carcass. **cringes**

While Lightfoot getting back in probably will happen (because Chicago), the recent polling out does have her in the low teens and like fifth on the list so this move isn't coming out of nowhere. She needs enough to make it into the runoff and no better way to offset buying votes than by employing free child labour.

Of whom does that remind me now? :story:

Likely next mayor of Chicago refuses to condemn looting during the 2020 riots, blames corporations

By Thomas Lifson

It looks like Brandon Johnson, the radical leftist candidate supported by the teachers' union, will win the runoff election and become Chicago's next mayor, despite losing to centrist-leaning Paul Vallas by 11 points in the primary. As a local resident explains:
A new poll out Thursday shows Vallas’s lead down to 2 points. He led by 11 in primary. Blacks and Hispanics who voted for other candidates in round 1 are now lining up with Johnson.

There will be a lot of for sale signs up April 5th if this trend continues. Gays and teachers' union members are both heavily favoring Johnson, though both groups are mostly white. They too will get mugged. Looting will be effectively endorsed in the future, an all-but-official policy, so long as desperate marginalized people from the preferred groups are doing the mugging.
It seems that until you are mugged yourself, you follow your tribal interest group. Some minority residents have left Chicago, especially blacks (likely over 100,000) in recent years.
Watch, courtesy of the Illinois Policy Institute and the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, Brandon Johnson refuse to condemn looting. Less than one minute:
