AI should make that work easier, less stressful, and more efficient. Ideally, you want stuff like AI, robots and technology in general to increase productivity to the point where the necessities of life are easier to get without having a traditional jobs.
Indeed, this is arguably what’s happened on a global level. Work is much less physically demanding, the workweek is shorter, many jobs can or have moved to being remote with more flexible scheduling, and food is more available compared to 100-150 years ago.

For the thread itself: UBI only works (as best I can tell) if only certain people are being paid not to work or starve, i.e. it isn’t universal. This is basically what we have with welfare. Bad, unreliable (e.g. single mothers), and low-skill employees receive $15,000 (or whatever) to get out of the way and not mess up the economy. This is tacitly accepted with minimal inflationary pressure because it’s better for everyone to not deal with the dude crossing his fingers for a workman’s comp claim.

UBI itself is predicated on the idea that people are rational and will make wise decisions with cash transfers. We know this is BS: this is why SNAP exists but Title I schools still have to give free breakfasts because irresponsible parents don’t fucking feed their kids. It really is a bind because a society can’t pay its way out of stupid.

I had a friend who worked at a very shitty title I school in the city and it changed his opinion on everything. The parents were the absolute worst and their children were just as bad. During Fridays they would send students hope with bags of food, but the students would throw out the healthy food they didn't want, and keep the chips, and I think oreos whatever desert snack was in there. Then they would sell each other the food, fight each other for it, and/or some would just destroy their food to make a mess on the ground. He worked at another title I after that, different races, but still the same thing.

There are many cases where I have personally heard people brag to me about selling EBTs or buying shitty junk food for themselves. It's pretty bleak to hear about this stuff and how they brag they can exploit everything.

There is only one solution to the predations of Thinking Machines, Stalker Child.

Your life doesn't mean anything at all other than what difference you are making in the world and to other people. Somebody planting trees, teaching children or fixing roads means something. Our droves of shitpeople that just eat, shit, and zombie-walk around on drugs don't mean anything. They have no meaning. Everyone and everything would literally be better off if those people were just exterminated.
And yet the people being crushed are the productive decent ones and the people being exalted by the system are the junkies and trannies and trash

"UBI" in exchange for work IMO. Sweep the roads, cut grass, make nuts and bolts or whatever for a basic level of income. Gives idle hands work and therefore meaning. With a strong social push and framing it in the sense of it being part of serving your community... hell I'd prob sweep roads for a couple weeks a year just to ground myself.

That's not UBI. UBI is a guaranteed basic income for citizens (eg, not residents, tourists or illegals) for necessities, the theory being is that if you want that Switch you need to make money. It could have already been in place as far back as the 1970s when Nixon proposed it, but it got shut down by Southern Democrats who needed cheap labor for their shitty agricultural and factory jobs.

Democrats have always been addicted to slavery, be it black or illegal so no, we aren't getting UBI anytime soon.

Learn to code plum. Blue collar jobs will never be taken over by AI. Maybe in a decade or so some entry level white collar jobs will start to evaporate, but if you can actually do your job well, you'll be irreplaceable.
Don't fucking gentrify the plum industry.
