Not exclusively. The Byzantines preserved all the Latin and Greek classics, and after the Fall of Constantinople, the Byzantine scholars and academics all fled to the Italian peninsula and started the Renaissance.

Even the Muslim scholars and scientists of Al-Andalus like Avicenna and Averroes who are held up as the best and brightest of the Islamic golden age were just paraphrasing the Roman and Greek predecessors in their respective fields, with not much in the way of truly groundbreaking original scholarship.

That would be the Catholic monks in Ireland.

I thought Islamic science invented the astrolabe, but...No. That would be the Ancient Greeks. They 'developed' it, whatever that means.

I likewise struggle to find something to credit them with, but most of the things they 'developed' perverted already existed....law, astronomy, chemistry, Abrahamic religion, etc.

Yes they also had a lot of medical advancements because the way medieval Europe was they had something called the rule of the three orders

This meant there was three main bodies observed in society.

The peasant who toiled the land and fed the lord and the priests.
The lord who watched for the Peasants and priests protected them.
The priests who watched over people's spiritual health.

so going into any realm that was seen as a realm of another doctrine was seen as sinning against God because God new best.
