It doesn't actually increase the debt ceiling

Less spending and high revenues makes it a mathematical impossibility for that number to increase, nigger

People are hypocrites and it's fundamentally useless to point this out. This is in large part because everyone's seen the memes accusing their side of being hypocrites and they have canned responses to square the circle for themselves and reassure their allies.
"It's different when we do it" is pervasive specifically because they think they're the good guys and good guys can't be bad guys. You won't be able to convince them otherwise because in-group social cohesion trumps ideological consistency every single time. And that's not even necessarily a bad thing, but a story for another time.

It is common but there is some justification, politics is all about distilling your worldview into easily digestible point that appeal to the common man. Saying "we want to bring government costs down" is way more popular than "we want to reduce spending in specific areas that we don't see as important, which will hopefully, reduce overall spending, but we will increase funding for what we see necessary ".

I think it's not even about politics, it's about human nature.
Do you wanna be a principled loser or do you wanna win? The answer is obvious to most people.

Lots get a thrill from politics, especially US politics. Our media does, the candidates do, the average american does, and to be fair, sometimes I do get a thrill when I occasionally bet on candidates :story: Pretty understandable why many feel that way.

It is very quite simple. The vast majority of people don't actually think about political philosophy and we are living in this, retorted Liberal. Philosophy system where you have to justify everything with 900 pages of word. Solid rather than the old true and honest system is I don't like you and what you stand for, therefore I'm going to pull that bullet in your head.

This has been the case since forever, welcome to the human race.
