So, near my house, there's this tree on a huge flower pot. It's got greens leaves and white flowers. I don't know what tree it is.
Everywhere I've seen this tree, it always gets infected with a caterpillar. They have red-orange butts and mouths, alternating color bands of green, white, and black, and one antenna(?) in either its butt or mouth (I can't tell which is which).
Anyways, these past few days, it's been raining and the tree was looking all nice and green and it had flowers and shit. Whenever I pass it, I always look for the caterpillars. A week ago, they appeared.
I have no idea where they come from. They just popped up on the tree and began to eat the leaves and flowers. They were tiny and skinny. Over the following days, they've grown and today, they had eaten the tree. Yeah, only the brown tree skin stuff remained, and they're like, um, 6-7 times bigger and fatter from when I first saw them. I know they get bigger, but I guess a bit later.
I don't know what happens to them once they eat the whole tree. I suppose they become pupae and become butterflies maybe?
Yeah, I have nothing of substance to post. I just think it's neat.
