If somehow he were pursued for that, he could EASILY write that off as part of his act/product he's funding. Not that he'd think to do that but, a very easy out.

Most of Jace's "military service" is just made up fantasy crazy buckets. For instance he claims to be a "commander", but in the Marines commander is more a job title, not a specific rank he could "steal". Hell, for all we know Jace might be referring to himself as the Head Commander (which is not what most folks might think it is).
