Apparel Company Sends Logan Paul Cease-And-Desist Letter Over Maverick Name

cuck.jpg

A New York-based clothing company has sent YouTube star Logan Paul a cease-and-desist letter to stop using their brand name. Maverick Apparel sent a press release to 411 noting that they have demanded Paul stop using their name in the wake of the backlash against Paul’s video showing a suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest.

Maverick identifies itself as a manufacturer and clothing company that prides itself in “building wholesome apparel brands for juniors and children.” The company’s cease-and-desist letter noted, “Maverick by Logan Paul and Maverick Apparel (“Maverick”) trademarks are confusingly similar but moreover because you have embedded the term ‘Maverick Apparel’ as the title of the domain https://shoploganpaul.com, consumers have been confused, deceived and misled that he is affiliated with Maverick Apparel.”

The letter points out several example of Paul’s bad behavior, calling him a “vlogger catering to his evident lowest common denominator narcissism and who champions his scrotal injuries as a badge of pride in his quest of making an historical record of inanity.”

The letter continues, “Maverick Apparel has noticed a rapid and significant decline in its sales, reputation and goodwill of the Maverick Apparel brand as a direct result of your repulsive, abhorrent and mutton-headed conduct. In choosing to promulgate yourself and your maw-wallop across social media and champion yourself as an object of ridicule, hatred and contempt, you have simultaneously infected the good name of Maverick Apparel. “

Maverick claims that they’ve lost at least $4 million in damages and have said Paul must stop using the trademark within seven days or they will sue.

I watched the forest video, I figured that video would be what causes a ton of problems, but I didn't expect a cease and desist letter. Here's hoping those two idiot finally realize life isn't a huge game...Who am I kidding.

The real question is will it be the people around him leaving him to preserve whatever "career" they have left or the people from the outside targeting him, like Maverick with it's letter?

That kind of thing happens when you fuck up so spectacularly it makes news around the world. Little things you were getting away with get brought to public light and causes you more problems.

I'm ordinarily not a huge fan of trademark bullying, but the idiot went and used their actual full trademark and also this shit is hilarious.

They should probably look for this shit in his YouTube videos, too, and bring YouTube aboard for the litigation fun. There's so safe harbor for trademarks like there is for copyrights and general assholery.

A lot of this is shit from weebs, though, who are especially mad about "muh grorious Nippon."
Yes and no.

While I'll agree that any weeb out there is going to lose their shit because their Glorious Nippon has been insulted, most people living in Japan were disgusted with his behavior as well.

We'll ignore the filming the body because that would be seen as being disrespectful to anybody anywhere. I don't care if it was in New York City, people would be angry with him for doing the same thing. But the biggest problem is that Japan is pissed at him and he might have lost his ability to ever go back. Japan has strict privacy laws and sticking your camera in everybody's face as he was doing is not only breaking cultural rules but could be interpreted as being against the law. He took a trip on one of the work vehicles in the fish market. Technically that's illegal. He walks around shouting and making an ass of himself and the Japanese don't know how to take this. This is seen as being incredibly rude.

The Japanese comments on his videos go along the lines of, "this guy's an idiot", "he's insulting Japanese people", "annoying foreigner" and "stupid American".

There's this concept in Japan where people try not to bother each other as much as possible. You do everything you can to avoid annoying others. He went out of his way to annoy and be disrespectful.

I was in Japan during that time. It was our choice to be in Japan for New Years so that's why I haven't been logged in for most of December. This guy was all over the news there, all over the talk shows, and the worst part is he uploaded the suicide video on January 1st. This is literally the most important day on the Japanese calendar. This is like Christmas here. You get together with family and friends, have a special meal, drink too much, eat too much and think about the new year to come.

By posting that suicide video on January 1st Logan Paul took a huge steaming dump on Japan and they're not going to forgive him that. Yes this is very much a cultural thing but it goes beyond just weebs getting their fee fees hurt.

I've read at least the @mombot translations. They're pretty disgusted. Pretty much everyone is. Americans are embarrassed and Japanese are insulted. I still haven't seen much of the screaming, shrieking REEE REEE I want to murder his entire family shit out of the Japanese, who are mostly just "get the fuck out and never come back." I've seen a few more angry than that, but almost all the twitter SJW responses are in a completely incoherent, irrational rage.

And except from maybe the ultra-nationalists who want all foreigners out of Japan, you're not going to see them REEEEEing all over the place. It's just not done.

There's no reason to rage over what he did. I didn't like it. I felt he disrespected the country and the people in doing so and so did everybody I know there. But nobody is calling for his head.

He disrespected the country even worse with all the idiotic, childish and illegal shit he did the entire time he was there. It wouldn't really be a huge injustice if they jailed him for a bit before kicking him out of the country and barring him forever. It just isn't worthy of the insensate rage like he'd personally strangled that guy himself.

You are telling me that it is entirely possible when the Japanese police is inviting him to "talk" about what happened they were really trying to arrest him?

Oh I agree. He was stupid and should be fined and barred from ever entering the country again. I'd be perfectly fine with that including him doing a stint in Japanese jail for like a month. He'd find out really quickly that Japanese jails are fucking harsh.

You are telling me that it is entirely possible when the Japanese police is inviting him to "talk" about what happened they were really trying to arrest him?

It's quite possible. It's hard to explain but a lot of what is said in Japan doesn't matter as much as how it's said or what is not said especially with the older crowd. For example nobody ever says "no" to your request. It's considered rude. What you do is say "sure I'd like that... kindaaaaaaa" and trail off. That's a clue that they don't want to go through with it. Or somebody says, "come visit me sometime" but they don't give you their address because they don't want you visiting. It's a pleasantry. It's just there to be friendly.

So when the cops said that they want to have "a talk" with him they could be getting ready to stick him in jail. Now as he's a foreigner and he's been rude and disrespectful they might simply force him to sign a confession, go before a judge and have him kicked out of the country forever. That is a big possibility. Depending as to how many important people he insulted while he was there however they might push for actual prison time to send a message that this kind of behavior is not allowed.

Right now, I don't see prison happening. I think they just want him gone but we'll have to see what they decide.

Just for shits and kicks, I want to see Logan in jail and see how his fame will work there.

Not jail, Japanese prison. He'd find out really quickly that his fame doesn't work. Those people there won't put up with his shit.

What he can do however is make a formal apology and pay a large fine. That will show the Japanese people that he has admitted his guilt and is showing remorse for it.

Wonder how well a pretty white boy who took the biggest shit on their culture would do in a Japanese prison.
He's got no worries there. Japanese prisons are harsh but they're safe. There's little in the ways of prison rape or prisoners getting beat up by other inmates. It's the guards you have to worry about and how there are rules you need to follow to the letter. Step out of line, get punished. One of their favorites is you are put into a room. No chair, and are told to sit up straight, don't slouch and stare ahead at the wall for 8 hours. You can't get up and walk around. You can't look around. You can't fall asleep. If they catch you doing any of those things you will be punished some more. After the first few times you learn to follow the rules.

Sounds like a great thumbnail. Shame no vlogging in prison.

He can just officially bribe his way out of prison? Fucking Japan.
