I've never been there personally, but the stereotype is hard-working, hard-drinking working class city with distinct speech patterns and really fanatic soccer fans. The industry has been in decline since the 90s and the city has been rebranding itself more as a center of sports and culture, but the stereotype is still there, especially since it's lumped together with nearby cities where coal mining is still going on.
