I kinda have an idea on how the movie's gonna go from that trailer. Looks like it sucks ass.
How many people actually go back and rewatch Titanic or Avatar all the way through currently? More than Terminator 1 and 2? Aliens? Without the mass marketing over Avatar and the upcoming sequels that movie would fade into obscurity. Even Titanic is rarely spoken about anymore. I would argue that Titanic does not hold up at all as a movie (RLM did a Plinkett review on Titanic that was pretty good and even had some plagiarism allegations thrown into the review). And that the length of Titanic prohibits casual moviegoers from repeated viewings. When was the last bad film *CAMERON* made ( he has been a producer on bad films)
Papa Dragon may be blue now but I hope he will kick some ass again. They are bringing back our hero as a blue man.
The quality of this movie will entirely depend on how much screen time and over the top writing this son of a gun has.

It's rather unfortunate the Aliens franchise has been on hiatus but the gaps between movies itself is pretty long, no? Aliens 1979 wasn't followed by a sequel until 1986 and following that Aliens 3 in 1992 and Resurrection in 1997. So about 5-7 years between movies. We're at the 5 year mark from Covenant and it sure would be nice for the open plot lines to be answered like the history of the Engineers and their relationship with the Xenomorphs. That aside Avatar is what an AI generated movie would be.How many people actually go back and rewatch Titanic or Avatar all the way through currently? More than Terminator 1 and 2? Aliens? Without the mass marketing over Avatar and the upcoming sequels that movie would fade into obscurity. Even Titanic is rarely spoken about anymore. Amongst my friends and coworkers I have not heard anyone bring up Avatar nor Titanic in years more than passingly. But people still reference Aliens and Terminator 1 and 2. And despite the excruciatingly bad output from those franchises people still seem interested in more movies and shows.
Titanic, at least for me personally, holds up horribly. The characters are all awful. The main female is an ungrateful whore who is spoiled rotten and sleeps with a random stranger whilst her mother tries to save her for marriage as she is clearly not a virgin nor is she social nor polite. Billy Zane is like a parody of a wealthy tyrant in that his repulsive behavior is comically over the top to the point of hilarity. They should have had him throwing babies and puppies into the freezing water to make room for himself on a lifeboat to drive the point home for the dopes in the audience. And DiCaprio has zero masculine energy whatsoever and is not believable as some pickup artist who could seduce a woman. He sounds like a creepy faggot that should be sitting down with Chris Hansen rather than wooing some British strumpet.
The movie is filled with odd class warfare references to drive home the "third class traveled like prisoners" myth. When in reality all immigrant travelers had to travel in third class due to American customs and processing laws. You cannot have a ship containing hundreds or thousands of people land at your ports and allow them just to enter your country without being checked for disease and criminal records. Cameron is some sort of liberal retard who thinks cruise ships of mudskinned creatures can just show up on Disney cruise lines in American harbor and walk to their new freedoms. If Cameron wrote Godfather II he could have Vito Corleone walk off his ship right to a five star hotel.
There were also enough lifeboats to save everyone in a normal accident but the captain deliberately ran the ship into a known ice field (arguably to commit insurance fraud that turned into mass murder). Which caused the ship to sink immediately because it was not cruising at normal speeds. Reminiscent of the sinking of the MS Estonia which sank faster than is physically possible outside of a collision event that tears open a large hole in the inner hull. Cameron's lack of understanding of why the captain pushed the ship into an ice field makes the disaster seem like some big hubristic accident when the truth is that the captain had to have been told by Whitestar to destroy the ship.
And Avatar? Outside of the sequels who is even talking about this film other than reddit fags and film nerds? In the comic industry people still want to work in the Alien franchise. There are multiple videogames set in the Alien world that are recent. Even some recent Terminator films and games. Those franchises are kept alive mostly by nostalgia at his point but the refusal to let them die speaks volumes. When Avatar seemed to be dead a year or two later and is kept alive by life support level marketing until the big sequel push.
The point I am making is that Avatar is only popular due to mass marketing. And it will never be a franchise like Star Wars or Harry Potter nor even on a smaller level like Terminator or Alien or Predator. It is simply a mediocre story wrapped in outdated CGI. I have no idea why James Cameron is psychotically pushing this franchise so hard rather than simply taking control over Alien or Terminator. It cannot be money unless he is some sort of secret gambling addict or dumped his money into some pyramid scheme or scam.
It seems like Cameron has his preferred formula. Make some huge blockbuster must see movie. Market it that way. Release and make huge money. Then the movie fizzles out like Titanic or Avatar in the cultural consciousness. Rinse repeat with Avatar sequels but up the marketing to WWII draft propaganda levels.
I'm not complaining about the lack of new Aliens movies since the time between them is historically pretty long. I'm simply saying that the mysteries of the Engineers in the prequels has to be one of the coolest plots that I hope gets expanded.@Car Won't Crank
replybugged
ehh, I dunno. I think Dark Horse did a lot to help to expand things (like some _other_ franchises I can think of) during a long slumber at the box office
would a half-dozen Aliens On Elm Street movies have really helped?
iirc explaining the space jockey guys has been the most the franchise has shit the bed on screenI'm not complaining about the lack of new Aliens movies since the time between them is historically pretty long. That's what I remember too with the initial response to the prequels. Now though with the power of hindsight, I think the space jockeys are actually pretty cool and want to see how their story would go. The Aliens have been front and center for a long time.iirc explaining the space jockey guys has been the most the franchise has shit the bed on screen
and after the theatrical edit of ^3, Resurrection, and AvP that's really saying a lot
It was kinda cool when they showed up in the comics back in like, 1990 or soThat's what I remember too with the initial response to the prequels. Cheap ass, couldn't even invent a new villain. Can't wait to see how they squirrel their way out of his death in the first film. They are bringing back our hero as a blue man.

It's a romance movie for soy women. The "class warfare" is porn. Women schlick to this. And DiCaprio has zero masculine energy whatsoever and is not believable as some pickup artist who could seduce a woman.

Soy. Women. I can't admire an unusual flower at a flower show without some broad immediately squealing, "oh my gawd it's like in Avatar!!!"Outside of the sequels who is even talking about this film other than reddit fags and film nerds?
Yes. Mostly comedies and sometimes dramas, but yeah, romantic movies are still around. Are there even romantic films anymore?
