James Cameron's Avatar to get four sequels - The message will still be the same

Meh I kinda liked avatar. It was big and shiny and the design of the aircraft, particularly the shuttle seen at the start and then again when Quaridge jury rigs it into a bomber gave me a sci fi boner so big I used it as a desktop wallpaper for like a year and half (the shuttle not the boner, I keep those pics in an A3 folder cos they're life size!)

Eh, it was an okay flic. Nice to see in Imax 3D, fun to watch for the visuals, though the alien cat pseudo sex scene is really awkward and I wish it wasn't in the movie. Not something that really holds up to repeated viewing, though, and loses a lot of its appeal on a home screen. The sequels might be a fun way to pass an afternoon, but that's about it.

That's the only scene I can vividly remember from the film, the brief interior shot of the shuttle cockpit on landing approach to the base. In 3D, it looked extremely badass, with the HUD readouts and dials all projected on the canopy glass. Ever since then I was convinced of the merits of 3D/VR for flight sims, but unfortunately have not been able to get the full experience as VR sets are still pricey.

Is this because Disney made Avatar land in Animal Kingdom?

Also I think it's funny that the highest grossing movie ever is universally regarded as "ok"
It's also interesting how the highest grossing movie ever made left no real cultural impact in the long run. The only thing I could think of is 3D movies coming back, but the 3D revival was short-lived due to the floodgates opening, and probably being the reason why that shitball Alice in Wonderland movie that came out a few months later made a billion dollars.

This news is old as fuck.

First they said they'll do two sequels back in 2011, then three back in 2012, and now they're saying they'll do four more movies.

Next they'll say that there will be five more sequels. By the time they finally do release Avatar 2, nobody is gonna give a fuck (not that people already have of course).

Trust me it's worth the money.

The Avatar Land area took fucking forever to happen too. Over at Universal's Halloween stage shows they were making fun of the delays for many years.

All I really remember about Avatar was walking out of the theater thinking "Did no one else think it was weird that the ponytail-doodad they used for fucking was also forced into animals." Like the Na'Vi are portrayed as this peaceful race who live in perfect harmony with nature, yet they go around mind-raping animals with their hair dicks to enslave them.

I think the main reason Avatar did so well in the theaters was that it was the first of the new 3D movies, and did it well. Had it been a 2D movie it would've faded out of the theater pretty damn quick.

Now, everybody uses 3D. It's fucking everywhere, whether well done or total shit. Even something with good 3D can get overlooked. That's not a big enough draw to a sequel of a movie that had everybody saying "meh".

Holy shit, Cameron even stated about pushing the limits of what's possible...Like Broussard with DNF. (well not an exact quote, but that sort of mentality I mean)
It's truly the DNF of movies, goddamn.
