The first 5 or so minutes is James just gushing over Rex Viper. Finally around 10 minutes in they talk about the movie and they liked the flashback... I called it quits right there.

Oh man that thumbnail makes him look really old. Is it just me, or does he look like he's in his early 50s or something? I know time takes us all, but what is april doing to that poor man?

There was a black comedian years ago that was taking shots at Richard Pryor. The premise was that when Richard was younger, he had an edge. He had things to confront. But after he was established in jewlywood he became vanilla and all his movies and performances was the "black man panicking and reacting funnily to things." James doesn't need a budget, I believe. He needs something in his soul to propel him to pursue it. Family life and leaving your franchise in the hands of screenwave puts your soul on autopilot. What is in james that his heart yearns after? I think he's dead inside until something happens that ignites the fire until he incinerates anything in his path to pursue it.I used to like AVGN like... a decade ago. Would Rolfe be a better filmmaker if he had a real budget, I wonder?
Doubtful. He’s pretty much a clueless boomer stereotype when it comes to technology, and he’d have to drastically alter his method and way of thinking.I used to like AVGN like... a decade ago. Would Rolfe be a better filmmaker if he had a real budget, I wonder?
tbf the best part of the film was the end credits song tho

I swear he mentioned in a video somewhere he picked up guitar a some years ago. It might've been after the AVGN movie? But it's certainly not a brand new hobby for him. There's no fucking way in hell James has played guitar for 20 years even as a side hobby, however if it's true he must have some actual learning disability, he can't even change a string ffs
Robert Rodriguez made El Mariachi on a budget of $7000, so no, a budget wouldn't make him a better film maker. What James lacks is a fire up his ass to take the risk and just make a fucking movie that isn't AVGN related.I used to like AVGN like... a decade ago. Would Rolfe be a better filmmaker if he had a real budget, I wonder?
Some people just don't have the vision it takes to be a filmmaker.I would not trust millions of dollars for James to be lead director of a film. He needs to maybe be started out as assistant director and screenwriter first.
His Indiegogo campaign raked in $325,327, and the AVGN movie is what we got from it. His output only seems to get worse when given more resources.I used to like AVGN like... a decade ago. Would Rolfe be a better filmmaker if he had a real budget, I wonder?
Wasn't aware of that. Oh well, so much for that. His Indiegogo campaign raked in $325,327, and the AVGN movie is what we got from it. His output only seems to get worse when given more resources.
And I guarantee you he spent more than that even though it doesn't look it. Shooting in LA (his first and probably biggest mistake) is expensive as fuck for permits. Then he got SAG actors which means unions and even more expenses and then he paid to get the movie a theatrical release and I GUARAN-FUCKING-TEE YOU he spent anywhere from $100K-250K. Maybe more than that because he had it premier at Grauman's Chinese Theater and god knows how expensive that is. Easily $50-100K right there. His Indiegogo campaign raked in $325,327, and the AVGN movie is what we got from it. His output only seems to get worse when given more resources.
James, curator of movie reviews.

Unlikely. While James can make good films, and has talent he has a ton of issues that still would plague his movies. Sure, giving him a ton of cash would maybe solve some of those problems, but in the end I think it would still just be crappy at worse, and mediocre at best. It would just have a ton of money behind it.I used to like AVGN like... a decade ago. Would Rolfe be a better filmmaker if he had a real budget, I wonder?
