Come to think about it, why doesn't he just talk about older 80s/90s games that he loves/loved as a kid? Save the raging for channels who are actually good at it like Rerez, and instead just review good games while criticizing their flaws like Stop Skeletons From Fighting and SomeCallMeJohnny do.

He'd probably be way more enthusiastic about them, and it's clear from videos like Majora's Mask, Earthbound and some of the Castlevanias that people simply enjoy him talking about video games, and doesn't need the faux outrage anymore. It can't be because "everyone else talked about them" as that doesn't matter when you're a big Youtuber. Projared gets great views on his Final Fantasy reviews, for example, and I'm sure plenty are waiting for him to rip the 13s a new one.
Plenty of Marios, Zeldas, Castlevanias he either never reviewed (Gameboy titles, Kid Dracula) or didn't go into much detail about (Bloodlines), Metroids, Sonics (so many damn Game Gear titles, even 2 games were on the Master System), I could go on. It'd even be a nice excuse for him to play Sunshine or Wind Waker or something.
Because he can't, without the character it isn't making a (((FILM))) and that is all he has ever really been passionate about. James is the early internet version of a Twitch Thot.Come to think about it, why doesn't he just talk about older 80s/90s games that he loves/loved as a kid?
Old Screwattack logo was a nice touch
Belief, but all answers are true to an extent.>why doesn't he
What can change the nature of a man?
I admit I've been too optimistic about the future of AVGN a few times in this thread, but hopefully, since they've now gotten past episode 200, that they take it slightly easy on the series and go back to making just one mediocre episode per month (rather have it be one quality episode per every few months, but James wouldn't have time for that wait a minute).Either way I think more nerd is a huge mistake creatively.

More Earthbound-style reviews, where James can fire up his film critic no jutsu and actually have fun because the angry critic style is way beyond forced at this point.I admit I've been too optimistic about the future of AVGN a few times in this thread, but hopefully, since they've now gotten past episode 200, that they take it slightly easy on the series and go back to making just one mediocre episode per month (rather have it be one quality episode per every few months, but James wouldn't have time for that wait a minute).
But what else is there for the show to cover? Especially with the 200th episode that covered virtually every LJN game, almost all the major stinkers in retro-era video gaming have been covered on the show at this point. Maybe they could do reviews on games that aren't bad, but just incredibly frustrating (something that zombie AVGN is actually capable of doing well enough).
I don't know why, but an image of James and Mike being in Office Space 2: Vidya (or Virtual) Space just entered into my mind. Don't know who would be the third person in that movie, but the idea of them (pretty much james) hating his girl, hating his life and then doing something different really appealed to me.What is a man, anyway?
I'll tell you what: A miserable little pile of secrets!!!
His angry nerd reviews for a long time have been missing something and you can tell he's just not that into it anymore.
I liked rental reviews a hell of a lot more than I've like any recent AVGN episode.
Because Screenwave turned AVGN the character into a petty boomer who rages at the simplest things and has no time for anything but being made at vidya. But seriously, I think James has kinda done that from the start with reviews like TMNT, Battletoads, and Ninja Gaiden where you can tell he doesn't really hate the games but is playing up the frustrating part for the camera. Hell, even Simon's Quest kinda had that.Come to think about it, why doesn't he just talk about older 80s/90s games that he loves/loved as a kid? I miss when the videos were a rising scale of anger, he may start off a bit annoyed but still compliment stuff like the sound or graphics being good for their time, then progressively get more angry, like Dragons Lair or Silver Surfer. And usually when he's extremely mad at the start it was because he marathoned other games before it and had little patience left, like in the Batman episodes with Forever and Revenge of the Joker.Because Screenwave turned AVGN the character into a petty boomer who rages at the simplest things and has no time for anything but being made at vidya. And he's constantly making dumb cartoon faces like an autist.I miss when the videos were a rising scale of anger, he may start off a bit annoyed but still compliment stuff like the sound or graphics being good for their time, then progressively get more angry, like Dragons Lair or Silver Surfer. But for however long now he just starts off immediately pissed, usually over the dumbest shit. Some games like Green Dog not even warranting the rage at all.
I don't think the channel as a whole is dead but the podcast definitely is.The channel has died.
I oddly want an edit where someone takes all the times bimmy goes "mhhm" and replaces the audio with like some heavy toned trucker who smokes four packs of cigs a day or something. Maybe another edit of the Dumb & Dumber about the most annoying thing heard or something.I don't think the channel as a whole is dead but the podcast definitely is.
How hard is it for James to sit down and talk (and by that i mean check his phone and go "mhhm" every once in a while) for like 4 hours a month to do the podcast? I'm sure he's not the one doing the editing, that's got to be that Kieran guy.
In general i find really funny that James has the easiest job in the world and he still halfasses it.

I agree, having Scott or even Justin Whang (he's part of Screenwave afaik) semi regularly on the podcast would be the best option. Swapping James with a far more lively guest is far more appealing to me but at that point is it still the Cinemassacre podcast? I guess they would need to rebrand. It isn't hard at all for James to just sit down and talk in that boring podcast but I felt that time would've been better off used to either making AVGN episodes or even practicing your guitar for your passionate hobby. If that podcast returns I don't mind if James wasn't there at all and in his place would have some special guests such as Scott the Woz to keep the views up.
