i might be overanalyzing things, but in this new video, when james mentions "my friend mike" didn't seem/sound sincere...like I never really heard him refer to mike as my friend mike, he'd usually just say mike (but i'm also assuming it's matei, since it seems like he'd be one of those kind of friends to give james stuff, like he had given him NES games for the Nerd).

In his defense Mike hasn't been associated with the channel for awhile now. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that a lot of viewers would have to think for a second about who he was referring to. Not so much because Mike is forgettable, time just moves very quick on the internet. People will steadily forget about his involvement in the past as things move on without him.

rental reviews trying to ape RLM was just sad.

I remember they talked about monster squad and got...weird about the "virgin" thing.

They need to take their time on doing AVGN shit like not race through each game. This would ideally involve the slobs paying people to play od games and sort them.

The pod cast should continue but just be more scripted, edited, and focused.

Board James was boosty....I m sure of it.

The only option do deal with james's lack of time would be to do something thats animated. but it would require more work from scripting to animation so thats not gonna work.

True, but James really does seem to go full retard at times, it’s not just being sucky at vidya. Look at his playthrough of Super Mario 3 for example. That was hard to get through without my eyes rolling out of my head. Literally my 70+ year old grandma was better at Nintendo than James and that was a game he supposedly cherished as a kid.

if he's played any mario game as a kid for any length of time, it becomes second nature, no matter how old you get.

AFAIK he is only good at a handful of games, probably the ones he played the most as a child. I remember that one time they played the 3D Indiana Jones and couldn't figure out how to use a poison kit.

As for the content, I doubt he'll ever do 'live' stuff again, much less with a group. He's just too much of a sperg. Scripted, highly edited from now on.

My guess is that one of the reasons Mike left was because dragging James to do stuff he really hated/was too distracted to do became unbearable after a while. (the megaman x video was magical).

oh well one of the reason i think his video quality has gone downhill is his acting. In older episodes he had very genuine and expressive facial reactions and on newer episodes you can tell he is forcing his facial reactions and comes off as fake as if he is about to start laughing any moment and he knows whatever he is saying is silly.
Writting quality also have taken a hit but that happened for 3-4 years now so its possible slobs arent entirely to blame for that. But yeah slobs are an absolute cringe whenever they are on screen.

Even with a handfuil of games, I'd say he's okay at best...still not really a gamer, more of a kid who had gamed, casually.

I mean you could always tell he forced his trademark frown since that's not a face the average person makes. But IMO the episode that really told me his acting just wasn't the same anymore was Big Rigs. I remember when he released it and I was amazed to see AVGN actually laughing at a bad game instead of finding ways to be pissed at Big Rigs. Okay, sure, it was realistic (can you really get mad at a game as dumb as Big Rigs?), but it wasn't his style even if it was still a good episode.

Nowadays AVGN is just a parody of old AVGN though, the emotions are all over the place.

I think it's mostly James not giving a fuck any more how his company is ran. He does the minimal work and gets paid, he doesn't care what the other guys are doing even if it's insanely immoral and burning bridges with genuine talent and not a fat dude who really loves Gengar. I think at the end of the day, James is just a bad businessman by virtue of his ADHD or whatever the hell he has going on.
