He talks about it briefly in his "making of a nerd" video. It's a behind the scenes look at how he makes his videos.

He mentions it kinda quickly but the jist is he never made it in Hollywood as a director but got hired as a producer/director of industrial and retail training films to make a living instead. And by 2009 (I think?) He owns or maybe just runs the company. He only talks about it for a minute or two.

That video is almost 10 years old now and he was working for an industrial video company.
 
There's a decent precedent on YT for angry, bitter ranting reviewers to turn out to be angry, bitter ranting people IRL, so you never can totally be sure.
I think those angry, bitter ranting people only became angry, bitter ranting reviewers because they saw the Nerd and thought "Wow! He's also a grown ass man who screams at baby games, he's just like me!"

I always remembered M:I fondly. It was one of my favorite N64 games because it was so different and actually did new shit. You really felt like a spy donning disguises and doing espionage shit. Was it perfect? God no, but I wouldn't call it bad either.
 

Cinemassacre Truth has a particularly bad habit of A-logging to wildly cartoonish extents and making accusations that end up not panning out. I'd take everything they say with a handful of salt.

It hasn't even been a month and I completely forgot that episode happened. I thought the one before M:I was the Incredible Crash Dummies one.

Yeah, I tried to think of any PS2 games that autosave and couldn't think of any. Even late big-budget titles like GTA:SA didn't.

I guess I can give James the benefit of the doubt that he doesn't play many games past the 16-bit era and isn't aware that it took another generation past the PS2 for autosaving to become the norm.

The Guitar Hero games did after every song. PS2 games almost never autosaved because they always screeched to a halt when it was time to save. I guess it was some standard Sony imposed. That's also why I figure every game had to have a dedicated screen when saving, like they couldn't show your scores or stats or whatever while you saved, and also had that weirdly autistic way of addressing the memory card. It was always like "Now saving to MEMORY CARD (8MB) (for PLAYSTATION®2). Please do not press the power button or remove the MEMORY CARD (8MB)(for PLAYSTATION®2)."

Gamecube and Xbox could do it seamlessly. Go figure.

It wasn’t a standard, it was the fact that the PS2’s I/O system was actually a PS1 SOC and saving required handing the data over to that subsystem to read/write.
