God, that movie was total ass. It felt like it tried way too hard to be an ironic Ed Wood movie.

Surprised James of all people doesn't realise this, but making a good purposefully bad film is very difficult. The likes of Plan 9 work because he was trying to make a proper film, but was so incompetent it has a charm that you can never purposefully replicate. It can work, Black Dynamite for example, but that's because it was actually clever, full of good jokes and had a love of the source material.

The last two were pretty uninteresting, but I think it's more James being a boomer than petty. I have co-workers complaining about group texts for their childrens schools and that being absolutely shit that they can't even mute because once in a blue moon it might be something important.

The issue is that if he did that, he is going to be fucked financially since AVGN is the money maker for James, and given how much Doug Walker got fucked financially by abandoning Nostalgic Critic in favor of Demo Reel, I don’t think James want to take a risk

I mean, it helps when a content creator likes what they do and has a fun time...I don't think you can really compare an entertainer to a fast food employee. Look at WingsOfRedemption: the phat phuc has meltdowns over his disdain for Call of Duty. It's funny for us (of course, since it's the Farms and all) but for his audience it's just sad and pathetic watching a grown man cry about video games. You can say the same for other lolcows like DSP and Spoony. James, on the other hand seems to be in good spirits when making his videos, so it's like we're all laughing with him as opposed to laughing at him.

I really only watch Cinemassacre for AVGN now that Board James is dead and gone and I gotta say I'm not too enthusiastic about the Fat Fuck Crew running things. I never liked Mike personally, but he did help to churn out a good product for the past 15 or so years behind the scenes.

YKWBS is hit or miss. Some of it I agree with, but yeah, a lot of his is just Boomer outrage. The one about startup noises just baffles me. I love (most) startup noises...hell, the classic PS1 startup screen still brings me shivers of joy like when I was 10.

I've always felt that way ever since their first appearances on the channel, the Aladdin Deck Enhancer and Spawn episodes are ones that come to mind for me, as they appear in most of the episode alongside James. Probably well known at this point, but it's worth mentioning that Mike, nor James have written an AVGN episode in years, and the fatties at Screenwave do, well, pretty much everything now. All James has to do is show up and do his lines.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if the star of AVGN becomes fat fuck Justin Silverman somewhere down the line.

Or is this one a better fit? (pun intended).

Justin's first channel was Underbelly, which saw moderate success, though it's probably more well known for derailing an episode of TotalBiscuit's podcast, thanks to Justin and his former roommate/editor Jurrut's antics during the first hour of the episode they were on.

Awhile later, he started up a new channel with Jurrut, called Silvermania, where it would mostly consist of ironic parody humor on gaming/pop culture. Probably best known for the Gabe Newell interview starring Bob Magrann. The other fatties at Screenwave would make appearances on the channel from time to time.

I definitely think that Bob being put in the slammer pretty much killed Silvermania. Before that, the other brain behind the channel, Jurrut, moved out elsewhere and didn't appear on the channel anymore, but Justin was still putting out content on a semi regular basis up until Bob's arrest.

Speaking of, Bob has apparently been out for awhile now, albeit under heavy supervision and isn't allowed to have any internet access. Justin is still in contact with him too.

I miss the 2006-2009 era when I didn't know who James Rolfe was. The lack of background knowledge made the AVGN episodes funnier somehow. It was just some random guy in a white shirt ranting about old garbage games.

Of course, every sane person understood that the Nerd was an act. But he somehow seemed more real because there was passion involved in making the episodes.
