Typing James' name in google has him listed as a "filmmaker" and not AVGN. I know I spelled his name wrong, but doing so caused google to show this

Technically they are not wrong. Dude made a film, but come on. James is an internet personality more then he is a filmmaker. And don't get me started on his crap about how his game reviews are movies.

He made over 200 movies, remember?
Not over 200, OVER 500!

Based

clearly this means his filmography has grown by at least 100 more since then

or that its pretty silly to count individual episodes as movies, though id give him a pass for listing his short films as movies, as they technically do count as such

Somebody must tell James the truth, reviews and stuff you did as a kid ain't "movies", he seems to be autisticly stuck in his brain to call every fucking time he pressed record on his camera a effing movie. It's embarrassing to say the least.

Makes me wonder how many times people been rolling their eyes in his face whenever he rants about his 500 movies. I mean, that makes me a filmmaker too with around 300 movies.

I blame Justin... after all he's the producer of the channel and he's even the one who convinced James to turn his private guitar playing into a full band (source: Podcast #1)
I wonder if you could incorporate Rex Viper into the Cinemassacre stuff without it being so...out of place. I think James tried by making Mr. Rigs a recurring character in AVGN segments, but the problem was that those segments weren't really anything special to begin with so there's not really a good connection between Mr. Rigs and Rex Viper. Hell, who are the other band members anyway? I mean we know the Screenwave slobs, so tell us more about who the Rex Viper guys are and maybe give each of them a cheesy persona like every other parody band (and a few more serious bands even) does. And hell, put those film-making skills to work and shoot a ridiculous low-budget music video, it's not hard to find obscure bands with music videos that are about the level of an AVGN episode's SFX.

He probably should've reviewed those weird band-themed games like Journey Escape on Atari 2600 or Iron Maiden's Ed Hunter or the various KISS games as an excuse to introduce Rex Viper for a skit or something. I know copyright on Youtube can be pretty shit but given James's interests I'm amazed the only game of that sort AVGN ever reviewed was Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Hell, you could have Mr. Rigs do his own thing like Board James so we could here James rant about Iron Maiden or playing guitar or whatever.

I wonder if the whole thing is just Justin/Screenwave convincing James to turn his private band that's clearly become a big interest of his into a Youtube thing for a couple of extra clicks. And maybe it does work since it gets a lot of discussion even if none of it's positive. Maybe they even suggested some of what I wrote to James but James didn't feel like it (in which case this is on him). The whole thing is just totally unimaginative compared to what "AVGN playing guitar in a rock band" should be and is full of lost potential.
The whole podcast just screams "we want to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks". Jame's channel is becoming every other generic youtube channel like watchmojo, but its ran by a boomer.
I wonder if James has any other options than Screenwave these days since they do everything for him except for the acting and the arduous task of messing around with cables and studio lighting. It's obvious he wants to cut as many corners as possible.

Well ackshually, according to Merrian Webster movie is a recording of moving images that tells a story and that people watch on a screen or television.

Could you imagine, say, David Hasselhof claiming that his drunken-hamburger-on-the-floor smartphone recording should officially count as a movie he acted in?

James literally doesn't give the slightest shit about AVGN and doing Youtube content in general besides it being his "job" that puts food on the table. Of course he'll put up a smile and claim it's fun that pays, either to calm down the fans or because he just wants to be polite and not bother people with his sadbrains. I don't blame him, his job is to pretend to be enthusiastic about things he played/saw/filmed/acted out a million times already; not everyone can make the same joke be still funny after 15+ years.

Watch his enthusiasm when talking about his kids and compare that to him snoring throug J&M mondays, forcing out the contractually obliged Apathetic Video Game Nerd episodes or those Jesus & Pals-tier podcasts. He tries to be buddies with Jabba the Hutt and the Geico Caveman, both childless with obsession over pokemon in their 30s, but it's painfully visible they couldn't care less and they're his only "friends" now since he bored away his old ones. I think he's tired and wants to stop worrying about his own has-been moments and start focusing on the kids' future ones.

What will always get me to die of laughter is how little of a fuck the slobs give. You can tell that all they hear about is james kids, and that have gotten so fucking sick of them. I don't know why, but that lack of caring always makes me laugh.

Justin sitting there not paying any attention is fucking funny. Dare god I hope the slobs don't spawn anything.

I gave up on the podcast after the first but I'm looking forward to watching a future one, maybe around the 10th podcast, because I really want to see how they are going to find things to talk about.

If the second episode is anything to go off of, I give it 2 more where they have topics to talk about, and maybe 4 more before they run out of everything, and it just turns to a giant ad for the channel and their sponsors

This reminds that Mike actually asked about James' kids with no problem in several James and Mike Mondays episodes, and he doesn't have any kids. Maybe the Loco Bandito really did have a heart after all.

Thoughts forthcoming
Huh, we're near to the end of the month, and there's only one new AVGN episode? I thought the contract said two episodes a month? Though to be fair, with his attitude, I don't think I can really blame him for slacking off.

Also, didn't he and Mike already do these games years ago? I thought the point of James and Mike Mondays were to play games there so they don't have to do so on AVGN.

Maybe there could be a benefit to that, especially since:
A. He's already played the games before, so he knows what points to make about them
B. He mentioned in the his gameplay with Mike that he actually rented the games as a kid, so he could give his recollections about the game
C. They're games based on a movie he watched, so he could be pretty enthusiastic in the review, ala Darkman

I think for now, I'll keep my expectations for this review low, especially since enthusiasm for AVGN is pretty much at an all-time low here, and I'll admit the past two reviews were pretty lackluster (though I'll maintain they could be much worse)

Maybe it's the pot but i really enjoyed this one! If he just keep em up at this quality he could, well, not start a new golden era, but definetly get some of his groove back! - Optimistic Alien U.L.F (Codename Deman)

Can't find new games. No time, I refuse.
