So I listened to the first two episodes of the podcast and for the most part, enjoyed them. The Slobs™ seem like guys I knew growing up, so they're easy for me to listen to and that's all I really want out of a podcast. Just don't be obnoxious and say retarded shit and I'm happy. I would listen to a podcast from any of you guys just telling stories from your life and talking about your day and I'd probably be happy. That being said, it's remarkably difficult to find ones that don't veer into that territory, with how many I've dropped over the years from the hosts getting progressively more and more woke and having tardrage fits over the outrage porn du jour.

Or, in The Dick Show's case, how it turned into a weird butthurt spitefest against specifically Null because Dick got so butthurt that Null wanted nothing to do with Digibro, because Digibro is an open pedophile. That just led Dick into spending the last entire year vigorously defending pedophiles, including having one guy on who isn't known for anything but being an open pedophile, rebooting Biggest Problem with a guy who makes pedo "jokes" on Twitter and then unironically mentioned that he lives next to a preschool, and is now currently simping for Isabella Janke, insisting she did nothing wrong and is trying desperately to get her on the show.

So compared to that, it's pretty good, finally gives me a new Tuesday show to migrate to.

Some notes from episode 2:
  • Kieran talked about some sketch comedy show he watched on Netflix that's made up of stuff SNL rejected. Already a pretty horrific pitch there, considering SNL is pretty well known to be a horrible show, but he goes on to crack up while explaining this one sketch he loved. The sketch involved a guy going into a place and insisting that the last time he was there, the door opened both ways, while the person at that place said "uh, no, it only opens one way". So then the guy proceeds to force the door open the wrong way, breaking it off of its hinges, and there you go, it opens both ways now. Kieran went into much more detail than that, of course, but man, that's such an elementary joke. And that's what made him laugh so hard, that's his selling point for this show? No wonder the AVGN sucks now.
  • James mentioned he never got used to memory cards, and even to this day they confound him. It's one thing to be tech-illiterate, but it's just sad to hear someone who only just turned 40 flat-out bewildered by a video game thing we all comprehended during our childhoods. Memory cards haven't even been a thing for like over a decade now. I'm all but certain James is mildly retarded now.
  • Kieran later talked about how MacOS didn't automatically log you out when you closed the browser but didn't quit properly, so a friend of his used a public computer at their college or something, saw someone who had left their eBay account logged in, and ordered a bulk supply of like 5,000 rubber nipples for baby bottles. That was pretty funny.
  • Justin accidentally ate a pot brownie once and 45 minutes later he was in another dimension, lol

And I like hearing about them discuss their creative programs, how Final Cut X sucks and how James had to move to Adobe Premiere which is much better and how much a pain in the ass green screen can be, that's fun and interesting to me and it's very rare to ever hear people that aren't woke faggots discussing creating digital art. So there you go, it's something to listen to while you're doing yard work or driving around or whatever mundane thing you gotta git dun day-to-day.

All I ask is that the hosts not be preachy or pedophiles, and apparently that's a tall order, but Cinemassacre does neither and I'm happy

Honestly not mad at this episode for actually putting effort, some of the stuff are hit and miss, but overall, far better than most of the ones we had this year.

I just hope it won't go into "owning the haters" territory because it does kinda lean towards it.
With the latest behind the scenes video, and James going on 1 rant about fans telling him shit, and him doing another camera angle that screams "hah I'm not lazy, take that" it feels like he will do more to own the "haters", without knowing what issues people truly have with the show.

Thoughts forthcoming
What the actual fuck. The guy who trashed the Ghostbusters remake and kept omerta on social media tighter than Los Zetas, the alleged Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross of Youtube, first breaks character by complaining in a colosally autistic BTS video and then goes full Chris-chan trying to diss those damn IAN BRANDON ANDERSONS from a detractor subreddit making up less than 1% of his fanbase. I am genuinely suprised, I thought he'll never fly so low. What a shitload of fuck, what were they thinking.

It was OK, shilling was long enough, 10/10 but please whip the unfunny clowns responsible for scripting your episodes.

So has anyone noticed that in 2 months that not a single video has gotten past 1 million views. Crazy to think that the same guy who used to be guaranteed a million views in 1, maybe 2 days now can't even hit that after 2 months
I'd think (for now) 500K views will be the benchmark for a "decent performing" AVGN episode at this point.

Also, "the same guy who used to be guaranteed a million views in 1, maybe 2 days" was only a few months ago this year, his 3DO episode is on track to reaching 2 million by the end of this year.

Also worth noting that, even in this snapshot from 2014 when AVGN episodes were still mostly of good quality, the newest and oldest episodes of that time weren't guaranteed 1 million almost instantly either (that Behind the Scenes video in the playlist hadn't even reached 1 million yet, despite being posted in 2012). I'd imagine they might've simply blown up in views since then, maybe the same will happen to some of these videos eventually.

Or maybe I'm just being an autist and the channel will almost certainly crash and burn by next year. I'm just hoping for the best to happen with the channel eventually (Screenwave removed from power, James finding out what time management is, AVGN episodes start being true quality again, old shows like YKWBS and Board James revived, etc.)

1.3kk subscribers though. I think most subs nowadays are inactive accounts.

I have agree with others that the SNES portion of the episode was great. The NES portion was alright, but the skits were not good, to put it politely.

For me, the best skit of 2021 (as of typing this), is in Darkman. The "No Skits" scene with Robonerd (8:27 mark), was refreshingly funny IMO.

Wait... the fuck? Okay I like the first one as like a guilty pleasure, but how the hell does James like the second one?

Go to the 3:38 mark

Okay. So its pretty much what I expected. Nostalgia won James over. I saw space jam 2 right when it came out and it sucked pretty hard. First one ain't a masterpiece either, but I found it to be a ton more enjoyable.

I'll just type down what I find notable in point form and keep it short because no time. This is not a full list of what the crew said in the podcast, also don't expect full accuracy:
  • Episode was likely filmed around the time where James was either making the Rocketeer episode or finished it, considering they were talking about it along with the film.
  • James watched both Space Jam movies along with his kids and liked them. He also liked how a lot of the Warner Bros properties were in the audience in the 2nd Space Jam movie. He even said whenever he saw a reference he just shouted it out and his daughter was like "Dad, you've seen every movie, haven't you?"
  • Justin talked about how he almost got killed by Michael Jordan in some baseball game. This was actually previewed in the beginning of the episode and it was this early.
  • Kieran disliked The Outer Worlds. James showed his kid Goat Simulator. Justin boasted about his Gengar collection and even showed his Gengar plush/sleeping bag or something with a long tongue, and joked about how Mike is still trapped in some terrarium and thus he isn't in Cinemassacre anymore.
  • James also talked about how his kids liked the dolphin plush featured in the Ecco the Dolphin episode and the pink elephant plush featured in the Darkman episode. There's also some behind the scenes discussion behind the Rolling Rock kegs in the Ecco the Dolphin episode and James almost risked his life piercing the kegs. Apparently even the Rolling Rock company was involved in the episode thanks to Justin and it involved a forklift along with tons of kegs and free beer.
  • The next AVGN episode will involve something related to underwater, and an actual real buffalo taking a dump on the game and Justin might get the buffalo farm involved in it. James even talked about possibility of a buffalo actually taking a shit in his ear and the crew even unironically talked about the process.
  • After minutes of talking about buffalos and lyrics of the AVGN theme song, James talked about the nature of the podcast which was talk whatever you want and shoot the shit. He even said he knew what the audience wanted and he thought he knew what they were interested in.
  • Main topic is "What was your first swear word". James' first word is "shit" because of his grandmother. Kieran talked about his Batman cape his mom made for him. Justin's first word was either "fuck" or "shit" because of the movie "Die Hard" and he was like 4 at the time.
  • James talked about his videos were how some people learnt English. Kieran used to work at some Rosetta Stone kiosk around his college years, and talked about how you should learn how to curse/swear when learning languages. Justin thought learning languages was a scam because Rosetta Stone/Duolingo barely worked when it comes to speaking the language or something. James talked about his experience in learning Japanese. James even talked about kanji and he thought since it was based in China (technically not wrong) he felt it was like two-in-one. Oh yeah he pronounced Romaji as "Ro-may-ji". Also he thought Kanji as if it was like an ancient form of emoji (technically not completely wrong, but still wincey)
  • Justin initially said Fan Q&A questions will only be taken from replies to Justin's Twitter account. First question was "Gun to the head: Judas Priest or Iron Maiden". James chose Judas Priest. Justin chose Iron Maiden. Kieran took "just fucking shoot me it doesn't matter". There may be a podcast episode about favorite bands.
  • Justin said he lied about the questions would be taken only via his Twitter account and he took the 2nd question from Reddit. Question is why the theme song wasn't used as often anymore. James said in his perspective the intro was used too often, similar to how he watched Family Guy and he reached a point he just fast forwarded the intro because he was sick of hearing it. Justin answered by saying it was due to demonetisation due to the lyrics, and even said how the recent AVGN videos (and even Rex Viper because of cover songs) nowadays don't get as much views as it used to was due to demonetisation and limited ads, but also stated "people hearing it a lot" as one of the reasons.
  • Final question which was how Justin and Kieran got involved with James & Cinemassacre. Justin met James in a Film Festival where James was showing his "The Deader the Better" short film. There's also Justin talking about what he did after that such as being involved in the "Underbelly" show in ScrewAttack, being a staff at TooManyGames and mentioned the infamous "The Roast of AVGN" in his dead YouTube channel. Kieran talked about him meeting Justin in Wizard World, his fanart of ScrewAttack getting featured in some ScrewAttack show and his jobs (which eventually got him to work at Screenwave). Oh yeah there's also some brief behind the scenes discussion about Kieran being involved in the Wrestling Games episode.
  • James confirmed he would be still wearing the new shirt he was wearing the 2020s (the black button one) until he felt like changing it. The one shown at the end of the Rocketeer episode was obviously a joke.
Overall Score: 5/10

This is the best episode so far among the Cinemassacre podcasts but still not saying much. I think from the next episode onwards, I'll just watch it with x1.5 speed.

I haven't read r/thecinemassacretruth in years but it's good to know they were on the money about James' weird scat fetish.
