This is a very good point. Don't forget to throw all of the Chinese bullshit in the mix as well (cultural values, societal norms etc.)
The irony of this though is that by the graces of Mao (and $10,000) she HAS a grandchild, granted the grandchild exclusively lives with James's ex-wife and family who want absolutely nothing to do with him. You would think this would be more than enough for a parent to take a step back and evaluate how all of this happened, but she's most likely just as retarded as James.
