The real tragedy of Rivals 2, is that it could have been Rivals 1 but 2 instead of "melee again", but they went the "melee again" route.
RoA 1 is a testament because it didn't play exactly like Melee, just took inspiration from it and became something new. What a fucking travesty that Dan took that, and instead of making a sequel to that, made ANOTHER sequel to Melee.
Go play Rivals 1, not even just for the workshop, but for the hyper-aggressive movement focused neutral with no ledge grabbing and free-form combos

The main problem is that they saw the casual success of Ultimate and Multiversus (before they fuck that up) and want that but no casual fan is going to drop $30 on a stream only barebone game that requires you to know the mechanics from a 24 years old smash game that none of the newer smash game have.

Should of said someone, and not I. Because it's really more of a hypothetical. It really comes off as sleazy when someone that has their hand in the pie already as part of the publisher does something like this, is it really "okay" to run a promotional event for an in-game piece of content which the purchase of will directly go that said hand in the pie's personal ventures outside the game? It's kind of like buying a product and profits are going to support "the efforts" in [insert any place that the US is addicted to sending money to]. Can I just buy the game without my money cosmically being used to fund an ongoing conflict, for better or worse? Like I want the product, but I don't want to support things that have nothing to do with the product in a vacuum. Why should a ferret's life hinge on the financial success of a skin being sold in a game. It's fucked up.

I don't know if it counts as a conflict of interest but I think they're referring to the fact that Mald is a co-owner of Offbrand games, who published the game, and is directing the game devs to funnel cash to his own private company, PirateSoftware, for unknown reasons. (perhaps he's not happy with his cut?)

It's pretty obvious there is a conflict of interest. Maldy is in an official role at the publisher and is receiving donations from what is essentially a fundraiser ran by a developer that works with them.

Are we really sure about that though? We always thought that Rekieta went even more retarded with his spending after his ritten/depp success (the cars,etc). We already noticed it was retarded before that (3k drawing tablet he used ONCE for a shitty shop job, 50k paintings, etc) but apparently it became even more retarded than we could even possibly thought (losing the house).

We already know mald went full retard by hiring all the jannies full time, giving them insurance etc, giving some of them room and board, buying a ferret 'ranch', etc etc. What else is he spending on that we don't know?

It's not illegal (I don't think), but is highly inappropriate. Mald "worked with them" on this and no matter who brought it up first, someone should have recognized it's a bad look for them to incentive sales via pitching it to customers as donations going to an animal rescue ran by "Pirate Software" (linking to his youtube) and leave out that Mald co-owns(?) is Director of Strategy for their publisher and that it isn't a charity. Then in the discussion post leave out that one of the staff is Mald's girlfriend who would presumably directly benefit from this and we simply can't ever know because there's zero transparency.

Not to mention that this is ultimately funding furries and their sick kicks out of hoarding ferrets. Maldavius Figtree, Jason's fursona, is a ferret and he requested a ferret furry skin for a character in the game where he then receives donations to fund his ferret hoarding habit as part of his plan to get over 200 ferrets. It's vile, Mald is a sick fuck.

When I heard him announce that he's joining offbrand, he never mentioned being a co owner of the company...in fact I heard that fact for the first time in this donation news thing. So he's not only a publishing director but also a co owner? When I first said it was shady, I had the impression that he was only an employee so a company he works for is giving money to a company he owns. But not it looks more like a company he owns is giving money to a company he owns.

He said he didn't register as charity because he didnt want to claim tax breaks and give the impression that he's taking money out of his left pocket and putting it in his right pocket...but this sounds like exactly that.
