Dude this stupid nigger just said on stream that it would be masturbatory to update to GML 2.0 because the game can "run on a smart fridge", and doesn't need a performance boost. This is the same guy who defended his array because it's "20% faster".

He's not necessarily wrong. The game is retardedly simple, and even people picking apart his shitty code have said as much. The problem comes if he ever finishes the mess and makes another game programming the same way(which he probably would) that actually has performance demands and wouldn't be able to figure out how to fix the resulting issues.

He also said he's not "financially tied" to the game. What a dickhead. Yeah fuck those people who paid for the game in EA.

Also not wrong in the sense that he doesn't make money off of it(anymore). He could abandon the game today and sales of the game wouldn't change anything for him, but that's only because his revenue for the past couple of years has been tied to his livestreaming and not game development(that he pretends to do while streaming). If anything, finishing heartbound would only leave him with his minecraft blockgame shit in notepad++ to pretend to be an elite mega indie programmer on stream and would fuck him over as he couldn't realistically come up with another project that wouldn't take another decade to complete. Afterall, he repeatedly claims what's holding up development is the writing of the game, not the programming and he doesn't do any writing on stream(or during his 4 hours of free time a day between fucking ferrets and sleeping).

Yeah, think about that for a moment. Heartbound being finished would ruin his LARP as a game developer for his streaming career.

There is at least one post describing what he did on his first winning team on Reddit for one of the badges. Basically he was acting as part of staff to slow down other teams by sabotaging their progress the entire weekend, and I think it's very likely he was also in a social engineering role for the second badge too. The Primeagen also never mentioned Mald (or Luke from LTT for that matter) as doing any coding so I think it's very likely he was again doing social engineering.

There is also somewhat of a strange relationship between Mald and his worship of the guy who created the puzzle challenges he was involved in, it wouldn't surprise me if it was rigged to begin with.

Sure, those statements are not technically incorrect, but saying he's not fiscally tied to his EA game(that has basically been abandoned) in public, might be the most tone-deaf thing he could have said in response to a question about his game being review-bombed.

His correctitude(or lack thereof) has hardly ever been the chink in his armor. Inconsistency and inability to acknowledge those inconsistencies is what drags him down time and time again(Keemstar still has a career after calling people nigger, as well as countless other controversies, but he either owns it as the 'asshole' or apologizes).

One day mald thinks the game would benefit from performance(20% array), the next day it's a waste of time to squeeze that particular juice(GML 2.0). If confronted with that inconsistency, he will either deflect or argue about how it is not an inconsistency, rather than accept the objective truth of the situation. Funny if that's how he thinks, considering he loves to talk about 'context' and how his words are always taken out of it. Something he apparently does out of habit: compartmentalizing his statements to suit his needs.

The reality is he says whatever he thinks he needs to say in the moment; he says whatever he needs to say to justify a choice he's already made or he says whatever he needs to say to get out of doing something he doesn't want to do. He's a worm, and backtracking would be taking the bottom card out of his house.
