For what it's worth, almost all the streamers I follow that have been playing OnlyFangs haven't had a numbers boost at all, some had lower viewer counts while playing. It's been remarkably widespread for something of such middling success. I don't trust any of the claims about organic/inorganic drama, but reacting is cheap content and I'd naturally expect a ton of it from everyone already on the train.

One exception is ThePrimagen, a good friend of Thor who's been mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Prime only plays about once a week and gets slightly higher than average viewers when doing it, probably because he's not usually a gamer streamer and isn't running audience interest bone dry by doing it every day. His reaction to the drama lasted about 2 minutes on stream: watched the clip, said "who cares it's a game. I play games to blow off steam, I don't have it in me to take this seriously", and moved on.

I bring him up because in the weeks Mald has been playing OnlyFangs, Primeagen did hours of Go programming for a chat extension, dissected a popular language benchmark going around, created his own benchmark, started learning Jai, and wrote a mini game server in Jai from scratch. He even got Jonathon Blow in his chat, and passed along feedback on language features that Jon took some notes on. After he did all that, THEN he did a few hours of OnlyFangs WoW, before going back to coding the next stream.

At some point Mald will blame his lack of progress on Heartbound on "doing other things" like his "very popular" WoW streams. When that happens, someone should remind him that Prime got 100x the amount of development done during the same period, while still playing WoW, without roaching on his friends.

This saga has been... special. In a sense, it's kinda surprising to me how it was him making an ass out of himself playing a 20 years old game that was the tipping point rather than him making an ass out of himself constantly giving bad advice for a few years, but then again most people probably don't have the knowledge to vet his advice and those who do have better things to do than watch him or get into an argument with someone who will never admit mistakes.

The worse thing is, with his programming, he could just take a look at Juju Adam's libraries and see how properly code. Granted I couldn't tell you if Juju's libraries code structure is any good, but Juju has a proven track record at least. Maldavius will never finish his furry game because he knows his code is bad and it demotivates him. He'll just push it out of mind, out of sight. He also wants to focus on his streaming career. Which is fine, by itself, but yeah nobody likes liars.

But even more people dislike bad WoW players it seems. I know it shouldn't be, but it's still crazy to me how many people give importance to that game. I'm underestimating people's autism. Retail is in a very bad state, overworld too easy because of scaling and undertuned content for story ppl and bad writing. Classic is full of botters and gold transactions for GDKP because people don't want to play the actual game, they just want endgame loot and fame. It will never be like in 2004, there's too much knowledge and optimizations known.

His behaviour is still pretty poor though, in the context of game etiquette, and he deserves to be flamed for it. What surprises me is how many people came out of the woodwork to participate in that public stoning.

It’s a classic case where a ton of people just didn’t like him yet he also had a rabid fanbase so it wasn’t worth starting shit with the guy without cause, yet with this WOW fuckery the floodgates are open.

I would also like to remind everyone just joining in, after his “hype train” record was broken earlier in the month, he proudly claimed a few days before this drama kicked off about how he was going to take it back on April 1st, which is not a joke, as it’s his yearly subathon.

A Twitch hype train is basically just having a ton of people give you money in a short amount of time, and nothing is stopping him from taking the record back just by having an alt account waste like a million bucks on gifted subs, yet the more this blows up, the less likely it is he’ll beat it without some extra fuckery involved.

The OP has a birth date, though I'm uncertain if the residential address therein doubles as his place of birth. Undeserved ego simply pisses people off. A video game is much more relatable to people to be able to understand when some one is full of shit, unlike something more technical like coding. Basically Luke gets like two hours into the show and then Thor invites him up to a hotel room where Luke, his friends, Thor, Primagen and "People who don't want to be named" all sit around for the rest of the show and do capture the flag puzzles....... If you read into body language you can see Luke is fangirling about being around IrateSoftware and Linus is literally yawning wondering when they can sell more merch. I know its kinda cross pollinating with the Linus thread, but I thought it was interesting to see how the elite hacker sat in a hotel room above defcon and did hacking puzzles he could have done at home.
