I don't get it. The GM documentation clearly states:

In GameMaker you have objects and you have instances. Objects are essentially the base template for an instance, and as such are never present in a room directly... Only instances of the object are placed in the room.

So how can he delete an object? I guess he messed up with the wording (again).
Most languages call their template a class and when you create instances of the class they're called objects. Gamemaker calls the template the object and calls created instances "instances". It's very firmly in "who cares" territory unless you have formal training. It's kind of like if someone mixed up an argument and parameter, or method, function, and procedure, or a statement and an expression, except even more ambiguous because gamemaker redefined object for their purposes.

Code monkeys will spend years of their life arguing over english semantics that don't matter. The word "object" is already super overloaded, which is why when you need a thing you see people call things "things".

@Mario Cerame Bit of advice on forum functionality, you can use the multiquote button below each post:
1739481424249.png
To add each person you wish to reply to to a 'list' of sorts, once you have picked through the people you wish to reply to you can then hit the "Insert quotes" button on the lower end of the reply box:
1739481483366.png1739481492659.png
This will attach each quote individually to a single post, letting you reply to multiple users in one go. To add, some posts on the longer side cannot be normally quoted and you must highlight and then quote the section with the popup context menu, like so:

Alternatively the janitors will merge the posts, they must earn their $0 salary after all.

i in no way condone gooners grooming minors or seek to defend him but this happened 15 years ago, the pooner is likely in their mid 30s and conitnuing to push this thread of drama undermines the entire concept of maldy being a lolcow

its grasping at straws and conjecturing what heppened rather than pursuing evident dumbassery on his part
The problem is, that he can just disarm this one and then claim all 100 other issues are on the same level and never go into them.

I don't know about the US, but in most parts of the world a 1 or 2 year age gap in a relationship between teens will never concern anyone. Naturally, there will be a short time where one is 18 and the other isn't, but noone cares. And they both claim it wasn't even a relationship to begin with. This is just giving him an easy excuse to discredit all claims by pointing out this one.

He's still:
a narcissist (his whole behaviour from work at blizzard, fallout he had in SL, Eve, AoC, WoW etc, up until every single stream today),
a patholigical liar (what his actual jobs were, things in games and communities he gives himself credit for, Animal Well, Outer Wilds),
a fraud (being a dev at all, Heartbound....)
and an animal hoarder (buying "fresh" ferrets to have more, not building an actual shelter for them on the farm, just cramming them into the house, never taking care of them just boasting how many there are).

Hello @Mario Cerame! Nice to see you back and answering questions. I was checking the comments of the recent "Content Nuke" video and saw you in there.

You may already know this after your revisit, but the source of the video is more or less entirely this thread, and mostly the OP. The guy is practically just reading it in video form. Kind of sloppily, if you ask me personally.

With this in mind as well as the knowledge that both Jason and the alleged victim have gone on record stating nothing untoward happened, would you have any insights about the legal ramifications of Jason trying to sue for something like defamation over this video or ones like it?

Also as a side note, etiquette here where you're replying to a bunch of people is to group it all into one big post instead of many individual posts. That said, I doubt anyone is going to get to upset considering you're taking the time to visit our dank and moldy corner of the internet to provide this interesting info.
OH I'm sorry and thank you for the correction. I will do so in the future. That makes tons of sense. I beg the pardon of all.

I seems to me that it really depends on specific facts and what facts a public figure plaintiff could adduce through discovery and at trial. Probably both sides would have to put on experts (of some kind) to talk about this site and the reliability of the information here generally and perhaps of specific sources here. So many things we don't know yet that we'd need to know....

I know you say the ostensible victim has come forward. To what degree would it be reckless in this case for the speaker to disregard those statements as coming from the actual source, and as true (i.e. not coerced or bought off or with partial error from faded memory)? Not merely uncareful, but reckless? Does he have statements otherwise? What is the complete universe of facts the speaker is aware of? Just a few scant messages in old forums or is there corroborating evidence from other sources unidentified in the video?

Do not trust anything from a random person like myself on the internet as legal advice. For entertainment purposes only, and Claude can probably say much the same--

It seems to me a public figure plaintiff would have to show at least clear and convincing evidence that the speaker had actual knowledge of falsity, or knew there was a serious, genuine risk of falsity and published the material anyways. Is this website the sole and exclusive source? How reliable are the sources here generally to a reasonable reader? Is there corroborating evidence elsewhere of material facts? What steps were taken to verify before publication? I need to know substantially more before I could opine.

Still, when you speak, the New York Times and you have the same freedom of speech. If a speaker doesn't act with reckless disregard for the truth--not mere negligence, not merely being uncareful--then the public figure plaintiff has a problem. If clearly and convincingly a public figure plaintiff can prove the speaker acted in reckless disregard for the truth, then the speaker has a problem. I don't know what the facts here would bear out. I need to know more. And this--this is all theory. It informs the practice sure, but....

In practice, you consider risk and exposure. How much of a gambling man are you? Good judges make mistakes too. Juries make mistakes all the time. What is at stake, what facts can be adduced, how sympathetic are the parties, how prepped is your lawyer going to be--how long will this be, how much can the speaker afford to arm themselves, is there a helpful anti-SLAPP that can actually be used--so many, many considerations beyond the facts I know. And maybe you can't know some important facts for a long while in the case. So again, what is the stomach for risk and exposure?

Unfortunately, I don't think I can adequately answer the question, but perhaps this explains at least why.

hat should've tanked his credibility re: being a legit rescue long ago.

Whats actually happening is that he's taking in young, healthy ferrets and subjecting them to awful living conditions.

That's my primary concern as well. For a legitimate rescue, 7 deaths out of 64 over the course of 2 years is actually a really good statistic. It's actually about 3 times better than I manage. However, that is under the assumption that the animals he is taking in are coming into his care with extreme health problems and are on death's door to begin with (i.e; the sort of animals he claims to be taking on per the website).

It is an entirely different scenario if he is buying them from pet stores or breeders and they are in good health when they arrive. In that case, 7 deaths over 2 years is absolutely atrocious.

And that leads me to my next concern - I did a search of every nonprofit registered with the IRS in Washington with the words "snail" "ferret" "Rescue" "hall" "Jason" "thor" "pirate" "sanctuary", and a few others that may possibly indicate Snail's House. And nothing ever came up. Nor is his rescue listed with the Ferret Association of Washington, any public facing animal shelter, Ferret owner's club, or animal control. His rescue has absolutely no footprint at all anywhere and no paper trail.

There are also no surrender forms on his website or anywhere to be found. If I had an injured or sick ferret and I decided that Snail's House is a good home for it and wanted to surrender it, there is no way for me to do it or even get in contact with it - So where the fuck is he getting these supposedly distressed ferrets if not a pet store?

And my more speculative concern - Since he doesn't have any registration with the IRS, and there are no records of any form 990s, he is *not* a non-profit. Now why would any shelter, even one used in this manner not be registered as a non-profit? There are numerous tax breaks you could get for it even if you had more nefarious intentions. Because he can't. The ferret streams are tied directly to his personal streams which he profits from. He has both a reputational and financial incentive for hoarding these Ferrets because of the ad revenue of the streams. And being able to point to his work as a rescue is a PR smokescreen for his online persona. He can't separate them and give them their own independent streams with their own independent accounting because he wouldn't be able to leverage it for his own gain.

This would also explain why he does not adopt them out once they are rehabilitated, as every other shelter does. These are not animals that can't be adopted out, like big cats, wolves, or other exotics. These can absolutely be treated, rehabilitated, and found another home. But he doesn't do that - and my belief is because he needs them for ad revenue.

This is in my opinion no better than dog fighting - neglecting these animals for personal and financial gain.

He's explicitly stated that its set up as a for-profit business, under the umbrella of "Pirate Software."
He couldn't even be bothered to set up a separate LLC for the poor creatures, let alone go thru the trouble of setting up an actual charity. I speculated farther up in the thread that this is most likely because of a few reasons:

  • Setting up a non-profit takes a great deal of time and money. Finding a decent CPA who knows their shit is not easy and not cheap
  • Regulation and oversight of the operation would increase, meaning more work for Maldy and the pooner
  • Its infinitely easier to report everything as one business. From every possible angle, this is retarded. He's paying MORE money to taxes and missing out on deductions. Ask me more for $350 an hour
  • There would be an exponential amount of paperwork and documentation involved with running a real rescue. I'm sure @Delusion Enjoyer can back me up here, but most humane societies and rescues have entire positions JUST for doing bullshit office work
my belief is because he needs them for ad revenue.
I think this is the most reasonable answer. As well as a "job" for his pet pooner, when he's not yelling at her for making bad art.

If any real and serious organization finds out about the conditions and operations of the Ferret Auschwitz, the gravy train will come to an abrupt end. Hopefully with jailtime, but I'm getting overly :optimistic:

Ah. I see I just came to the conclusion of ground that's already been tread. Didn't read through all 354 pages. I found the messages you're referencing. Disregard, I suck cocks.

Still, I am probably going to shoot a message to one of the shelter associations or animal control out there to investigate. This entire operation don't sit right with me.

Mald explaining one of the bugs he encountered during that stream.
This is an absolute nothing burger and absolutely does not warrant a video, but its an opertunity to gloat about his 133t programing sk1llz I suppose.
But It does raise the question of why he is even trying to deal dammage to somthing that has allready been removed from the scene? Does he have a hard coded variable for an enemy that just becomes null when it dies insted of a death state? Is it as the enemy is deloaded when moved away from? I dont know that much about the game but I got the impression that the only dammageable thing was that alien boss which you cant just walk away from right?
Im not familiar with gamemaker but in somthing like Godot the easy fix is to just enclose the method call to that enemy, within a conditional statment that evaluates as true if the object is in a state whete calling that method wont crash your game. e.g.
if myObj != null:
myObj.damage(myObj.getDamage())

Personaly I wouldnt store data for how much dammage an enemy should take inside that class, I would just pass in a value based on weapon.dmg × skillModifier , for example, and in the enemy class I would handle any adjustments to that value there.
Even if you do chose to store that value within the enemy, it is completly redundant to pass it in, you may as well just access it from within the class and avoid the getDamage() call.
So really it should look like this:
if myObj != null: myObj.damage(weapon.dmg × skillModifier)

But what do I know ive only made 2 shit games and never worked for blizzard.

Ok sperging over. I will humbly accept your autistic stickers now.

Here's a random clip where Mald explains how he's going to "build the largest rescue for ferrets in the United States":

Him bringing ads into this is a bit sus, but it's probably just Mald being the Master Social Engineer that he is. This is from last year, so the "scaling up" didn't happen for some reason though (did Mald include the ferrets in "The Machine"?). Aside from that, not being sure on the number of ferrets he'd "rescue" seems a bit short-sighted (there's a big fucking difference between 100 and 200, Mald), but whatever.

There's an interesting tidbit at the end of the clip, where Mald confirms that he's "managed" by something called "Sidequest Media", which seems like yet another "talent" agency, and he's listed (A) among the "clients". The page is utter garbage, so archive might a bit broken. Maybe someone has some lore on them, although I doubt there's anything relevant (no Asmongoloid among their "clients").

I've been sent back to the data mines.

Surprisingly enough, from what is posted publicly, at least half of his ferrets appear to be legitimately attained. While a large number of them have no info about where they came from, surprisingly few are confirmed to be from pet stores. Detestable nonetheless, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Notes:
  • The most common reason for surrender was their previous owners being unable to care for them further, with one notable exception.
  • For five of the abandoned pets, it states that the Washington Humane Society discovered them then turned them over to Snails House. Assuming he's not lying, that means the Humane Society is aware of the rescue and willing to work with them. To those waiting for the big Ferretschwitz SWAT raid, sorry to crush your dreams.
  • The two ferrets adopted as lab animals were Snails and Loki. I marked this slice as legitimate because they were adopted in 2019, four years before his house became a ferret hoarding situation.
  • Whether a ferret of unknown origin came in alone or in a group are two separate categories. It's interesting that if a ferret arrived in a group, the chance that Mald posted about where they came from is lower. One possibility is that these are also adopted from pet stores or breeders and just not written about as such for reputation's sake, but all we can really do here is speculate.
  • The "one notable exception" is Torch 🄰, a healthy ferret given to the rescue by one of Mald's fans 🄰. A pet offered up to the parasocial Moloch statue for internet points.

it states that the Washington Humane Society discovered them then turned them over to Snails House.

If this is indeed true, then it does defuse the entire situation. So long as there is a legitimate channel for them to be originating from other than private purchases, then this does appear to be a legitimate rescue with murky financials.
edit: wrong form of defuse, I'm retarded.

Aside from that, not being sure on the number of ferrets he'd "rescue" seems a bit short-sighted (there's a big fucking difference between 100 and 200, Mald), but whatever.
I have no clue about animal rescues, but for me having "target" seems kind off by itself. Having max capacity? sure. But having target on number of animals rescued?
Seems kinda sus.

This is also concerning. Why he would be so much against adoption? It would free capacity for other ferrets in need. Also if they did decent vetting process those ferrets probably would also be happier. However it might be hard for narcissist to admit this, after all wdym ferrets would be happier with someone else?
I don't think it's for ad revenue though. He is just animal hoarder with ferret obsession.

Jason actually does regular interviews with different Humane Society workers. I've got at least three on hand from scattershot archiving streams. Most are uneventful and about what you'd expect, small chat and interesting stories from the interviewee with Jason interjecting with Reddit factoids every once in a while- though to be honest I haven't scrutinized more than one. The one I did see had Jason state that he keeps 60+ ferrets in "two rooms", and the worker didn't bat an eye so apparently that fact isn't as bad as it sounds.

He needs a revolving door of sex toys. The poop gnome is just a warm up, you know how ferrets love running around in those plastic tunnels right?

The guys deeply involved with degenerate ferret furry shit, he's not just obsessed with them, hes sexually attracted to them. Who knows what hes doing to those poor animals when the cameras aren't looking. Regardless of what his motives are for him larping that he runs an animal shelter, this cunt shouldn't be allowed anywhere near animals, let alone ferrets.

jason staring at the abomination he created himself with it also serving as a background
It probably my fav. I don't get the people on here saying how his code doesn't matter or isn't that bad. I seriously don't understand how anyone can defend this shit. This is a game dev of over 20 years. 20 years. Over 20 years! 20 years. DID I MENTION HE BEEN A DEV FOR OVER 20 years!!! 20 years.
I actually have that stream in 720p now. I chopped up the coding segment to hopefully make it easy for our lovable autistic code reviewers to comb through all the text. I clipped out bits of him playing the game and staring at an unchanging screen, but made sure to capture error messages. I figure since we've already got the full stream where he's talking, this will ignore that and focus on the code. I've still got the full stream kicking around so let me know if you'd like something more in full.
I honestly wish he did more game dev, he does so little it really makes it hard to do a real code review. Also funny how he uses the debugger "wrong". I seen him using breakpoints, good job! However then proceeds to add two debug prints messages and didn't use any stepping (in, over, out) or watchers. Lol lmao, come on man.

"A word of advice farmers, drop the ferret investigation. Your digging has drawn the attention of very powerful elements within the game dev community. This goes far deeper than mere ferret trafficking. If you insist on taking this further, I will no longer be able to protect your World of Warcraft accounts."

I really enjoy her "I wasn't 16, I was 17." Look, I get Mald isn't as super-l33t hacker as he wants others to believe, and I get you're an "artist." But you idiots know how numbers work right? You understand what 18 is and what it means right? You are aware, that 16 and 17 are both before and thus under/less than 18. You know this, don't you?
Doesn’t he live in Washington State, where the age of consent is 16?
