This is one of my favorite Miles covers:
Goddammit, now that's beautiful. Red Garland is such a good pianist, he almost sounds like Debussy here. Davis' command of the trumpet is incredible as always, his phrasing, dynamics an restricted yet focused play style really shines through to create a cerebral yet emotive improvisation. Really shows you don't have to play lots of lightning fast notes to be a virtuoso. As John Scofield would put it: "Ah nevah let da fingas to da walkin".

Chie Ayado is a Japanese jazz singer and pianist who is big among audiophiles in the Asia-Pacific region but has limited appeal to the rest of the world. Her diction of English is a problem, but she knows how to slur words in a musical manner so you're not often distracted.

Usually I like my Jazz to be more up-tempo and excentric, but this is pretty beautiful:

God fuckin' damn it, this kid's good:

This is pretty sick too:

I saw a few posts on Japanese jazz on here. I thought I should take my chance to post a live, free improv performance.
This was performed nearly 18 years ago, in 2001. It has the most chillingly expressive vocals I've heard in a while.
The synchronization was unbelievable too. I was almost convinced this wasn't improvisation. The fact that it is, is what made me really appreciate this whole thing.
It's like all three of the performers souls were just connected to make this thing happen. I highly recommend a listen through this.
I felt feels. Lots of feels. It's sporadic, chaotic, passionate and raw as hell. I can tell there was a lot of emotion put in to performing all this in one go.
Sometimes the organization gets insanely out of hand and crazy, but I feel like that was intentional. I honestly had no words, and I wish I was at this performance to see this thing unfold with my own two eyes.

Two words: Scientology Jazz
As much as I dislike Scientology, one can't deny how many great musicians there are amongst their ranks, like Chick Corea or Billy Sheenan.

Never heard of Emily Remler till a few minutes ago, she was an excellent Wes Montgomery style player. I wish she didn't have to die so tragically young.

So I just discovered Wandering Monster through Heavy Blog is Heavy (of all places) and I really dig their style. Reminds me of Black Market era Weather Report:
Really cool vibe and great interplay between the musicians.
