Jerma985 - Because fuck it, let’s get a Jerma thread going. Meow.

Jerma seems like a decent enough guy that never had any controversies and he's good at saying stupid funny shit on the fly. I never watched him live because Twitch culture is cancer, but his VODS are good background noise. He was smart enough to start pushing for retirement so he doesn't stay a slave to his fans for the rest of his life once he got enough money and fame to do something else. I wish he hadn't cultivated as much of his fanbase around allowing chat to bully him. I know its a bit, and most of the stupid shit he says is part of his "character", but you can tell he really starts to get fed up with chat when they start being genuinely awful. You can tell he's a people pleaser because he definitely allows his actions to be swayed by what he thinks people want of him. It's times like in his Kenshi streams, his chat bitched so much that is was boring that he stopped streaming it altogether despite him having a lot of fun with the game.

Also the "Catboy Jerma" meme is fucking vile, and I think indulging it was one of the worst mistakes of his career. It started as an innocuous joke, but snowballed into actual forced feminization sissy wish fulfillment. I think that was the moment he realized he wanted to be done with Twitch.

Watching Jerma's stream today. It is some really boring stream about some anime game called "Infinity Nikki". I don't really watch streams so maybe my base is completely off but the only joke so far has been chat getting mad at Jerma's choice of clothes which wasn't even that bad.
I didn't watch more than a few minutes of that stream, never heard of the game before and does not seem like the kind of thing Jerma would try. A quick search shows me it's a chinese f2p game. Makes me wonder if he was paid to play it? Maybe he's missing that Offbrand money?

IIRC it was announced at the Game Awards in December and has gone semi-viral on social media (although I’ve only seen egirl fashion influencers play it). I think he just heard of it down the grapevine and probably thought it’d be funny to play an open world dress up game on stream. If he was paid, he would of said.

Very much agree. Many of his best clips and streams are of unconventional and old games that his nu-chat would deem boring as opposed to whatever crap is poprular right now. Funny when you think about how they were likely drawn to him by the very type of content they complain about.

He saw the trailer during the Game Awards and thought it was cool, Ster then told him to play it on stream. That's all.

It had been announced for a long-ass time. And it was already released when the Game Awards happened. Also not just the first game, the Nikki games make a shitton of money.
Get it right, dipshit.

The catboy shit was what made me drop watching him for a very long time and that's with a higher tolerance to Twitch culture, I'd be done with it over that too. That being a factor in his wind-down is more than enough of a sign to me that he's still sane.

I loved Jerma's classic videos, like the Jerma Rumble and some of his memes, but does anyone remember his cringe meltdown he had over transphobia during Pride Month a couple of years ago? Does anybody have that clip?

I'll be of no help to you there but I do remember similar events (though less severe) that had me worried he was going to get crybullied by his audience. He's never been controversial or anything but the sort of "community" he's built up would 100% expect something like that out of him. It's got this weird forced positivity thing and infantilization of him that really puts me off. Jeremy Elbertson is a guy from boston who did curls to celebrate his youtube milestones and flash forward a few years and there were people treating him like the insane minecraft youtuber obsessed teens did their idols.
Him getting involved with Hasan, Ludwig and their ilk was another sign that he was gonna have to walk on eggshells and read from the script at all times.

I don't remember any meltdown. I do remember a concession, around I'd guess 2018? When the pride emote spam was particularly obnoxious and Jerma was forced to address it, saying basically "Hey gays guys basically, uhhhhh no transphobia please!" and that was pretty much it. Which of course was the inch that allowed them to take the mile.
If there was any sort of meltdown I'm unaware of it and would like to see.

The biggest meltdown I remember was him playing some kind of Japanese hack and slash game and getting so angry he wished everyone that worked on it was fired. I wish I remember what game it was. It was the most amount of legit gamer rage I've seen from him.

literally just search jerma trans rights

ballwashers who want to kiss jerma just as much as his tranny jannies do have and will continue to pretend that these are things that he puts on a face for, or is crybullied into, or that disruptive tranny spam is challenged in any way

That's what I was thinking of. I mean, I understand he doesn't want to be canceled, but it's still kind of cringe.

I think back a few times he did get political and how he was like pro Bernie, No refunds, post 2016/2020 and just thinking to myself "Really?"

IIRC back when he did a shitty political alignment test (not political compass) and hid the result, some viewers took the same one while feeding his answers to it and the end result came back Liberal or something like that.

Basically, Jerma is an actual left leaning Bostonian maybe even tracing back to when he started on youtube. Some clips compilations centered around him being an "ally" have clips from pre-2015 I think.

Not to mention him dating Kim who did not hide her political leanings at any point.

Did he also admit to supporting Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, or no?

I don't think he mentioned politics much, if at all in 2024. He barely streamed so I assumed the last thing he wanted to do for those few times he did boot up the stream was clog it up with any sort of political talk.
No idea I don't think anyone would ever want to admit to voting for her lol.
You'd be surprised.

I like Jerma.
I don't like his neutrality, but the yt algorithm is queen.
That and he genuinely wants to do things in grey neutral areas and not on extremes like us (I could never do this shit) because that's just his thing.

But by god, his new videos are a level of sarcasm I've never seen on yt and the worst part is that you feel guilty for having watched the vids and he's clearly intentionally doing that as his next experiment. This is how he thinks with YT vids.
And this is the most painful it's been yet.
He knows the target audience HATES this shit.
It's like if a lolcow were actually self aware and went "ok, how do I make this painful for the audience".

For me it's actually entertaining somehow, but I feel dumber every time.

I'd have rather seem him in hospital than stream this game.
Clearly that's the point though?
Hang on, do people not get what he's been doing for months?
I never paid attention to Jermaphobe until literally the last few months so this is him to me and I just see an ex-full time streamer using his brand to do the most obnoxious shit he can do without going beyond the limits of his brand. It's bordering art for me, but probably also stockholm syndrome. I'm not too sure. All I know is that it is quite unique and I don't know where it's going.

You forget, he probably gets sponsor requests all the fucking time right? Why did he choose this garbage? Because he knows (and he has data) that his audience will HATE it.
