I was legitimately looking forward to this video (well, looking forward to somebody else watching it) because I truly, honestly wanted to know what Lily loves about Kingdom Hearts.

I like KH 1 and 2, myself. I could tell you why I like those games, and why I tapped out of the franchise afterward, and even why I see the ongoing appeal for others but it just doesn't hook me personally anymore. Given that Lily over ever talks about what a sweetpea Sora is, I really wanted to know what else about the franchise interested her. She's claimed that Nomura is a 'great writer' who 'trolls the critics' and that KH's story is actually super easy to follow (an idealistic child beats up the bad guy, super simple) but... does she care about any of the other charactes? What does she actually think about the gameplay other than it being the Dark Souls of Dark Souls? I know she was playing the KH3 Data Battles with a Xion mod, does she actually enjoy Xion as a character?

But no, just 'They're the greatest action games'.

Obviously nostalgia is a huge deal there, but I also suspect there's some amount of pride, too. KH2 can be kind of tough on Critical Mode (especially if you don't understand how Critical Mode works) so I suspect that Lily felt really powerful and accomplished when she first beat KH2 back when shew as in high school and that's why she chafes when people say that harder games exist. It's an affront to her accomplishment. To say that other games are more difficult -- espekcially with the Get Gud and True Gamer memes around Dark Souls -- is to imly that Lily isn't actually all that good at video games when, uh, hello? She beat Sephiroth in KH2. She's obviously god tier and that means that if she's bad something the game itself is bad.

While I believe she did have Fluttershy and RD hav ea child naturally (because Rainbow Dash in Stockholm was a fully functional hermaphrodite), most of her lesbian couples specifically adopt a child. The only exeption is Bonnie, via cloning experiment, but was also technically adopted with the baffling and distressing rationale that she shared Lily's DNA therefore Lily owned her.

The reason, though, is pretty obvious: Lily is a biological man. Lily cannot have babies. Lily is married to anotehr biological man. Mikaila cannot have babies. The only way they could have a child would be by adopting an orphan off the streets and smuggling them into her home, since any sensible government would never sign off on Lily being able to raise a child legally.

She doesn't want to actually touch that whole aspect of womanhood-- she freaked out when Christie Golden dared to make Sylvanas lament that being undead meant she had been denied the ability to have children herself. It's probably a combination of Lily's wish fulfillment -- a perfect child showing up on her doorstep, already grown past the icky parts and into the adorable, self-sufficent phase. But there's also a reminder that she isn't a woman and ther eare things that women experience and go through that Lily will never be able to understand, and being reminded of that is trans-misogyny.

I was in a pretty similar camp. Or rather, I wanted to see Lily flounder about trying to answer what makes any of the games on his list good since it would be another example of his media illiteracy.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with liking a game, even if it's known for being a story/lore heavy RPG, for the gameplay and not the writing aspects. I've definitely played RPGs where I'm not invested in the story, but I could still talk pretty in-depth about why I enjoyed the game, what really stood out to me about the system, memorable challenges I faced, cool builds I created etc. Even if we're just talking purely nostalgic games, I could go into detail about how/why it was nostalgic, what the game meant to me etc.

I actually think there's a lot of value in videos like that, because it's a good way to discover hidden gems you might otherwise miss. Even if it's not something that I'd go on to play, I think it's interesting to hear someone someone talk about something they're passionate about. The fact Lily couldn't even give one minute for each game on his list is extremely telling. Especially when you consider some of the entries on the list are multiple games in a franchise. There are videos out there that easily hit an hour in length simply talking about why one game is their favorite. Not that Lily needs to set that as a baseline, but you'd think at the very least, each game might warrant a few minutes, especially the games near the top of the list.

Lily really is just a toxic mess that only gets enjoyment out of being negative. He only "likes" things so he can put other people/franchises/stories/etc. down. The only thing he really seems capable of enjoying is incest. And even that, I genuinely don't know if he actually enjoys it, or if he's simply addicted to it because of his broken brain.

How dare women be attracted to the male characters that were especially designed and thought to fill in multiple archetypes of attractive men for women, instead of the women who would totally date their sisters if they had one. This could only be misogyny.

The argument of "there is no more women in this, this is misogyny" has always been stupid to me when it comes to creative endeavors in fandom spaces, because there are so many other factors that can influence that. If a fanbase is mainly composed of women attracted to men, straight or not, then no surprise that a considerable portion of their fanart is going to be directed to that object of attraction.

Futhermore, you can have a work that is full of women, written by women, done by women, and still come out with a misogynistic fuck fest that would have Lena Durham crying. Case in point, the entirety of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. All the After saga that originally was a fanfic of a self insert dating a guy from One Direction. Literally every romance inspired by any of them that started in wattpad, written by more women. Colleen Hoover is the constant punchbag of any bookish community online right now because of her misogynistic portrayal of women and unhealthy relationships portrayed as romantic. Twilight's hatred, that was fueled in no small part by misogyny itself, had a point when it mentioned how even the female vampires, who are supposed to be stronger than any men, were essentially just convenient plot devices (Alice) who never do much of anything or constantly suffering because they can't have babies (Rosalie).

I'm sure there are also works out there written by lesbians that are just as egregious. Being of any given gender or writing with a quota of certain characters type doesn't mean that the work is going to be a good representation for either. Sometimes people are really hateful, stupid, bigoted and express that through their art.

Other times people simply like cute hot guys being hot. It's not that deep.
