Generally the subject of parole doesn’t come up until you serve at least half of the specified number. Even in the most liberal locales. He’s in for 20+ no matter how you slice it. So yeah, he’s gonna neck himself early on.

My understanding of Bate's case is that he'll be eligible for parole after 16 years, so he probably won't end up serving his full sentence behind bars.
