Jim Goad's Group Hug is podcast hosted by Jim Goad along with Keith E. Lee on Soundcloud each Monday. The format of the show is split into two segments, the first of which where Jim reads off "The Week That Perished" for Takimag, a political commentary site he's written for since 2010. The two co-hosts banter with each other as they read off items, punctuated by Jim or Keith yelling the word followed by a distinct sound effect. After a musical interlude, the second segment of the show focuses on either a peculiar topic of discussion or a guest interview. He's had some colorful guests, including Mykel Board, Richard Spencer, Andrew Anglin, Michael A. Hoffman II, Gavin McInnes, David Cole, John Safran, Tom Metzger and Emily Youcis.

One particularly controversial episode is where Jim discusses the time he pranked Anti-Fascist activists into believing he was hospitalized by some street thugs on account of his political beliefs. Criticism came quick, prompting Jim to bring on one particularly noisy critic on the following episode to argue his point.

He comes off to me as a snarky antichristian. He's like richard sp*ncer in that sense but he doesn't fuck up like a cow and is also straight.

Is Goad a White Nationalist? I know he appeared on a White Nationalist show and now he has these White Nationalist people on his podcast. If he claims he isn't then it's kind of weird how he keeps popping up on their shows and has their people on his show.

Jim's a big fan of contrarian points of view, so it's hardly a wonder he's associated with WNs. Jim's spoke with Tom Metzger as far back as the mid '90s and even interviewed David Duke for "Answer Me!". Nick Bougas is also one of the few people Jim calls a friend. Politics and race have been the focal point of his writing since the late 2000s.

The short answer is, "No", but honestly, Jim's way too nuanced and complex to answer that comprehensively in just a few sentences. Jim was invited to speak at the American Renaissance conference a few years back but turned it down after the event billed the speakers as "Spokesmen for our race." Jim always has and always will be a speaker for one person: him. This estranged quite a few purity-oriented alt-righters.

Reminds me of the other Jim (mister metokur) who was coincidently on the wn podcast called “Exodus Americanus”.

There's a difference between appearing one time on one of those shows and consistently being affiliated with those people.
I don't believe in guilt by association. Jim shares superficial political similarities with WNs and treats them more than cordially on his show, but again, I wouldn't call Jim a white nationalist. Jim's been consistently anti-egalitarian throughout his writing career and harshly critical of progressives, liberals and leftists which are views very attractive to WNs.

I'm fully aware he's a contrarian. The 4th issue of Answer Me! is pro rape after all. But I just didn't know where he's going with all of these WN people.

pro rape after all
This is where I'm going to disagree with you entirely. Boyd Rice and Randall Phillip were firmly in favor of rape, but Jim certainly wasn't. He's critical of rape culture as an idea (NSFW), but pro-rape, he isn't. He even featured a comic illustrated by a woman who'd been raped and the tragicomic end her rapist faced. If anything, "Answer Me #4" can be seen as a critique of feminism. The whole spectacle was quite enlightening, really. Academics were all hailing people like Andrea Dworkin and the underground was elevating trash like Bikini Kill to superstar status, so Jim felt compelled to point out the elephant in the room. For daring to publish his little zine, he was the subject of an obscenity trial.

I was listing an example from Answer Me! I didn't say he was pro rape but that an issue was pro rape. Of course, I think Debbie was largely behind the pro rape message of that issue. Issue 4 was so infamous that a couple of Neo-Nazi's were inspired by it and committed public suicide. That and all the controversy lead to the cancellation of Answer Me!.

Yes, I'm aware, but you've got your issues mixed up. The suicide issue was "Answer Me! #3" which inspired three British Nazi Goths to kill themselves. One of them even sent Jim her life's savings which he then sent to her family. Another issue inspired someone to attempt to assassinate Bill Clinton by shooting at the White House. The obscenity trial over "Answer Me! #4" was the reason Jim discontinued the magazine.

My mistake.

Keith E. Lee has a new podcast of his own, explaining why he pulled out of the group hug. I happen to know both of them. I'm friends with Jim, but with Keith not so much because our friendship has deteriorated as well. Jim called me up and told me what Keith had done and he is definitely not happy with Mr. Lee right now.

Oh wow! Sorry I missed your post. Has there been any updates since this? Genuinely curious.
