The fundamental problem of health care, no matter what system you're in, is that people want:
  • Care directed and administered by the most skilled, experienced, trained, and educated personnel, who spent years of expensive tuition and worked hellish hours for low pay for years when starting out, who will of course be liable for any highly expensive results of any mistakes they make
  • Drugs from the bleeding edge of R&D, which have undergone rigorous trials for many years to ensure their safety (and of course many of these won't pan out), manufactured in the most modern sanitary facilities
  • Diagnostic and treatment equipment again from the bleeding edge of R&D, manufactured to the finest degree of precision and reliability
  • The highest-quality materials (and sometimes exotic materials) used in both the final product and process for the above, with the attendant difficulties of resource location, extraction, and processing
And they want the final result to cost little to nothing.

You either pay through the nose to get the best result, make compromises in the quality of care along the way, or run a slave state where you can force everyone to labor without compensation or the ability to choose their work.

The problem with healthcare is we’re fighting a never ending battle against obese people who refuse to exercise or take personal responsibility while diets are just endless corn syrup and seed oil slop with zero nutritional value. Healthy in shape people are endlessly subsidizing the unhealthy lives of people with health insurance.

The problem with this is that the US model of healthcare has basically become a huge profiteering scam, and nobody at all is getting good value for money.
You, as a middle income, insured, private healthcare customer, would get a much better deal, including as a taxpayer, if the US had some huge, well run version of the NHS.

But because someone of lower status might possibly benefit too, everyone will always vote against this.

Man how bad is this sektur doing if we're this excited over a stream that's probably going to be 80% gay superchyats and 20% fairly somber talk about Jim's illness
I wonder how many views a new proper video would get at this point. I reckon Jim doesn't think it's worth the effort to do one last look at some lolcows or whatever. Which is a shame, it'd be nice to see him go out on a high note.

Then why are half of US doctors Pajeets from the streets of Delhi?

Also, I could be way off, but isn't malpractice a fairly high bar? Malpractice lawsuits aren't the most common thing to hear about.

Drugs like penicillin and insulin? Most people aren't looking for the newest patented drugs from the most evil companies on earth.

The problem is a perverse incentive structure, not greedy sick people.
