It's...not very good. I have a friend who does montage stuff in this vein - his pieces sell for £10,000+! But then, my friend's work is rather more accomplished than this. His subject matter is also much more varied - not the same old women/afterbirth/mythology/naked kids stuff repeated ad nauseam. Plus there's no pretentious crackpot batshittery scrawled all over his works.

Well, I sincerely hope not. It would be a real disappointment to find one of the world's two highest IQs was incapable of anything more than "the joke's on them - I was only pretending to be retarded". Still, I guess that's what happens when you consider yourself surrounded by plebs and peons - you spend the rest of your days masturbating and navel gazing (the intellectual equivalent of shouting at pigeons) while the rest of the world takes one look, wrinkles its nose in disgust, then continues on its way...

The latest reports say Overbeck was posting pics of 4 yo kids as his socks, so he proved they were circa 20 yo kids from Google+ gay porn sites which never outrages anyone, even though he was bringing attention to these sites. Another thing: his paintings get described as collages, montages ETC by imbeciles who have NEVER once stood in front of any of them. Jesus Christ, those two images - they're really fucking atrocious. You can find this sort of stuff all over flickr. I've done it. Anyone who ever got excited over the work of Hannah Hoch or Peter Blake has done it. Difference is, Hoch was one of the first and Blake had a sense of composition. This guy clearly starts at the top left corner and works outward without giving the slightest thought to the image as a whole - just like any kindergarden student. And the psychedelia element tells me exactly what we're dealing with - a decayed old hippy who took too many drugs in the 60s and now chooses to wall himself up in an ivory tower (one with montages daubs all over the walls) and spend his final years masturbating to his own personal obsessions. Just like anyone who bought into 60s "counterculture".

So it's mixed media. Big deal. The end result is what counts.
