Weird to me he's getting in on this after scalpers fucking destroyed the market for buying used ones a few years ago.

He is incapable of stopping himself from buying microtransactions, do you think that his lack of impulse control would stop at games? If he wants something then he'll buy it, doesn't matter if it's a shit deal in some shit mobile game, terrible for his health, or scalped shit from ebay. When you don't actually have to put in any effort to gain money he probably has an atrocious idea of value. When he's buying overpriced junk he isn't thinking 'this amount of money took 5 hours of back breaking work', he's thinking 'this is 1/50th of patreon money that I get for at most 10 hours of incredibly easy work per month'.

It definitely all feels performative now whenever he appears in his mancave surrounded by all the pinball machines and other manchild tat, compared to the classic podium days when he had a couple bits and bobs on it.

In Jim's case I don't think it's any kind of long con though because he didn't even have the foresight to buy a house at the peak of his income. I think it was just another of the many failed avenues he's attempted to pivot his content down that failed miserably. Remember the 2 or 3 episodes of 'Stephanie's Heaving Toy Chest'? Remember when these were considered bad numbers for Jim, and now they've become standard?

I'm only including this screenshot because I was amused that a MATI re-up was the 4th result for this search (and Jim's most recent video 2 after that lol). I have watch history turned off on YouTube so I don't think it's being influenced by my viewing habits.
