Well, it's pretty simple. If you make shit changes that make the game shit, I'm affected because I'm the one playing the game and having my fun ruined. When someone working at the company gets raped, it's something that the people involved have to deal with (and possibly the company based on various factors). At no single fucking point should a consumer be forced to care about bad shit that's happened because they can't affect that and it shouldn't have occurred in the first place.

Jim, should I be asking amazon if the warehouse worker molested a child before packing my order in a box? What about the delivery driver? The person that made the cardboard box? The technician responsible for the electricity in my area? What's the scope on what I should be forced to care about?

It’s actually even simpler than that. Consumers don’t owe anything to the people who make their products. Never have and never will. we don’t owe them their livelihood, and we don’t owe them their comfort. They however, do owe us for our money and loyalty. It’s a one way street.
They make thing, we like the thing, we buy the thing.
If the process of making the thing involves hard work, long hours, officer politics, and potentially bad situations, that’s the company’s business and not the consumers. It only becomes a consumer issue when it messes with the thing. I.E. forced politics, nepotism hires reducing the quality, unionization slowing down outputs and reducing quality etc.
They exist because of the consumer, not the other way around. That’s why no one will care about allegations, poor work conditions, or crunch. The people making the games don’t care about how potentially shitty the consumer’s job is and never will. And let’s be real, the average consumer working a 9 to 5 likely has a worse job than the salaried game devs with insurance, vacation pay, and free meals. Sure they have to work longer, but boo hoo they get more pay and more benefits

Also food for thought: it's accepted among those dirty TERFs that estrogen, when put into a male's body, causes neurological issues, because the neurons in a male's body do not posses the sheathe that female nerves do that protects said nerves from estrogen corroding them. This results in men on estrogen developing all sorts of mental disorders and eventually going nuts, hence the suicide rate among trannies and their horrific behavior.

It's also settled science that being obese effectively gives you a whole new endocrine system as the excessive fat releases elevated levels of estrogen, and the fatter you are the more it releases.

Boycotting a company because they mistreat their workers or have a bad workplace or whatever is perfectly fine. So is buying their games on sale or used or pirating them but still playing them. And a multitude of other possibilities.

But that's not good enough for people like Jim. He wants everyone to do as he says. Not buying the game isn't good enough. Playing the game "creates demand" for it so you can't be allowed to do that. And it's not good enough to just not never mention the game or company instead you need to actively call them out and create publicity for them and anyone else who refuses to do so until things change because silence is complicity. (Plus unless you do the actions he can't know what you might really think.) Does Jim bother to find out if the people criticizing the Monkey Island art aren't boycotting Activision? Nah, he just knows that these two things are happening simultaneously by "gamers" and Activision hasn't gone bankrupt so therefore he can attack unnamed people for not caring like he does. If you say "but I hate Activision and this art" he'll just say he's not talking about you, he's talking about everyone else who is being bad. This isn't their real crime though, otherwise Jim would spend all his time not on Activision but the fact that Chinese backed slave labor is used in computer electronics making all of gaming and Twitter and his phone and everything else much worse than anything some individuals at Activision have done. ("Exactly my point about capitalism!" he yells impotently while doing nothing to divest himself from it.) Instead, his actions just make clear that he's upset that everyone doesn't think like Jim Sterling does and that makes them bad people.

There's nothing too concrete, but basically the fact he only ever mentioned taking estrogen once or twice, 2 years ago way back when he first came out, and has since said little or nothing regarding any kind of transition (FFS, SRS, HRT etc). It's possible he is just being private about it, but given AGP's propensity to overshare every part of their 'journey' I doubt that.

He also frequently uses the cop-out of being non-binary, which would actually excuse him not getting any work done to transition, but just adds to the idea this is all a convenient LARP until he finds a new bandwagon.

I agree that no one deserves harassment but from what I understand it was people basically shitposting on his blog, like come on you're a grown man you can deal with some morons saying mean words in a comment section.

From the sounds of it, it seems like a case of an old boomer dev coming back into the limelight to make a game and not realising the culture is very different now to how it would have been back in the 90s when he last worked on a proper Monkey Island game.

It's not "they're not annoyed", it's "most of them don't know it's going on". I could probably excuse it if Jim was a daily uploader, but given that he does one video a week it makes me question what the fuck he even does the rest of the time if this is his full-time gig. Usually if your upload schedule is once-a-week then you'd expect to get a scripted, well-edited piece. Jim basically has the quality of a daily uploader while taking a week.

But of course Jim's a fucking hypocrite because not so long ago he joined the chorus of left wing gamers by attacking Five Nights At Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon for being a political conservative. Scott Cawthon was doxed and threatened with violence because of his political contributions. This resulted in Cawthon announcing his retirement from the FNAF's series. Harrassment resulted in an independent artist quitting his role in a beloved franchise.

People blew that out of proportion so much. As far as I know, Scott never basically said it was a 100% economic decision. He probably thought that the LGBT/race stuff was fake news, or something that "they probably won't be able to get through anyway".

That is a large part of why right-wing parties are still getting a lot of votes even from people who probably don't like their LGBT stances.

Didn't he complain about some psychiatric stuff recently ? I interpreted that as him failing to be approved for some kind of transgender stuff, personally, which would possibly (and very understandably, given he pretty much self-admits to being a basket case) prevent him from getting all that.

Should be noted that since he just moved to the U.K., he may have fallen into legal waiting time for that kind of things, especially if whatever stuff he did in the U.S. wasn't done very "officially", with a recognized psychiatrist and stuff; He may have had to start back from level 1 with surgeries needing a year or two of actual follow-up - in France it works that way.

So, yeah, I think it's quite possible he doesn't share because all he has to share is taking fat Ls from the psychiatric system, and while people fixate on him talking about muh trans' genocide, I think that despite that he is very much not the kind of person to share his personal defeats at the hand of evil TERF-Island.

He used to do other things, spinoff series and writing articles and skits and so on, with his Jimquisition being the big scripted video every week that kept the core audience ticking over and the algorithm's eye on him.
